January Projects

I joined in on a number of Challenges to help me focus on my UFOs and such.
I did not have a great month of finishing things, but I did move forward on all the items.
Some I will continue on to completion and others might just wait awhile.
I'm not stressing over these, and it is fun.
I love the accountability and will keep reporting.
I'm putting them all in one post because it's easier to keep track of.

Elm Street - Lisa T-shirt Quilt
Not done, but much of the framing is completed.

Get It Done - Winter Solstice
Done, washed, was going to give it away, DH wants it in our family room.

6 & 6 - Something new
Can't show the test quilt I'm working on.

APQ - Fall Table Runner
Not really pretty, but the blocks are used and someone will enjoy it.

Still working on the drawers, but I've got a one full medium drawer and a light and dark progressing well.
I still have a bag of scraps to sort and another drawer to go through.
Blue is the largest group of scraps I have.

Color Challenge - Red
I made lots of valentine postcards with my red scrap fabrics.
It was fun playing with these pieces.
I also did a red and blue umbrella that was a test project.
I can't show the finiished project.
I decided to play with my red valentine scraps for a mug rug.
This was a table runner that I made into a door hanger for DD's dorm.

Stashbuster Number 2 - Alphabet Panel

This will probably be going to DD's Music Director.

Stashbuster Number 80 -  Imperfect Squares
Ready to be quilted.
This do not have a home yet, so I'm not in a hurry to finish them.

I'm OK with my progress, because I had a down month.
We shall see what next month has in store for me.

Organizational Challenge

I continued to work on flat surfaces.
Before
My computer drawer was getting overwhelmed with stuff.
Duplicates, triplicates, etc.
After
Much neater.
Cords are still a problem, but I need DS to tell me if they are still good or not.

So, how did you do?

What are you going to work on this week?

I'm thinking my cutting table and pressing table need to be worked through to see if I can make more room on them.
They have been worse, but I think I could do with a little evaluation on what needs to stay on them
Some of this is from the projects I'm working on.
Some is just a mess.
I've just added and added things here where it is hard to press a large quilt back.
It's a great table and I need put it back to being more usable.

Stashbuster February Numbers

#2 is Ashley's FQs
This is one that I'm not touching without Ashley being here.
So, I won't be working on this one.

#53 is Fall Panels
I am actually going to see if I can use both of these UFOs in the same one for this month.
I have a border fabric that was going around a Fall piece of fabric, which was originally going to be a dress for my DD (she's 18 now).
I was doing the couching on the dress, but...she grew up.  LOL
Anyway, I think I might be able to use the blocks in the Fall Panels UFO and this border UFO to become one quilt.
I'll have fun trying.
It is not a quick project.
It would be wonderful to take down 2 UFOs in one quilt.

Design Wall Monday

Not much difference.
I really need to focus this week.

My alphabet panel is ready to snowball the corners.
I have the A done.
Once I get a section done, I'll figure out what to do to make the corners fit the letters.
This will probably be for DD's band director.
T-shirt quilt pretty much the same as last week.
I have the fabric I need to frame the rest of the blocks.

Didn't really get very far, but I have the fabrics needed and did the A block.

Drawer I've not even touched yet.

Medium drawer

light drawer

My flat surface that needed help.

All the stuff off the drawer and onto the desk.

All the stuff I like around me to use cleared off the desk and duplicated/triplicates, etc put away for use later.

I am out of pocket tomorrow, but hope to find motivation later in the week.

I'm a little disappointed in myself.
My motivation was at a low, and I didn't do much of anything.
I managed to sew some, but they were all small items, but that is better than nothing.
I really want to finish some things, but have not started to do that.
Maybe today will be a better day.

Design Wall Monday

Still working on the T-shirt quilt.
I'm shadowing the center blocks and then will place the outer blocks.
I had to buy a fabric that will blend with the frames because I ran out and need to frame 7 more shirts.
Baby panel quilt is coming along.
I still need an X fabric.
I'll look at my Halloween fabrics and see if I have an x-ray machine on one.

I'm linking up with small quilts and doll quilts.

colors

You are going to think I'm crazy, but this helps me see progress.
I had dumped 3 drawers of fabric into this tote and a bag.
I transfer from the tote to the bag so I don't have to bend over so many times.
The back does not appreciate it in too much of a repetition.
The bag is full for the 4th time.
This is the drawer not touched yet.
I missed it when I was looking at how many drawers of blue scraps.
I'll wait until I finish the bag to start on that drawer.
Light Blue scraps, almost a full drawer, which surprised me.
Medium scraps.
They are more medium without the flash.
The second medium drawer.
Dark drawer.
I must admit that if I were just sorting, it would be so much easier.

I've made postcards with the blue scraps for some of my challenge.
I don't really want to do another quilt at this point.
I have too many UFOs, so I'll find some everyday things to make with the color of the month.

Red is from another challenge.
I'm not cleaning out that drawer, but it could use it.
I made a couple wall/door hangings and postcards from reds.
Before the month is over, I'll be using the red for coasters too.

It's good to focus on certain colors.

Motivational Monday

15-21 January 2018

2. Keep working on the studio
Work on some flat surfaces
It Still looks cluttered, but feels lots less cluttered on that side.
I could use more work on flat surfaces.

1, WITB
I found photos from our summer trip with the Girl Scouts.
I learned how to scan them all using my new scanner.

3. Continue borders for T-shirts
I'm still framing and laying out the quilt.
I ran out of the frame fabric.
I ordered some, hoping it will blend well enough.

4. Organization Challenge
Continue with the blue fabric drawers
It is taking longer because I am sorting light, medium, dark.
But, I'm making progress.

5. Quilt Winter Solstice
DONE

6. Finish fall block table runner
DONE

Sunday progress on UFOs

finished the Imperfect Square top.
I could not find a border that I likes, so no border.
Will bind in the black.
Now to quilt it.
My alphabet project was supposed to have more of the novelty fabrics to go with it.
I'll be snowballing the corners with the fabric with the same beginning letter.
But, I'm missing some.
So, I dug through my cabinets and found all but X.
Look at the mess.
I'll look at the Halloween fabric again and see if I can use anything there.
So, the panel was smaller than I thought.
I rearranged the letters.
I'm thinking of using some of the extra panel for the corners or I'll use the fabrics in a star or something.
Still working on that.
I'll print out a star for the right side of the Z.
the yellow stickies will be a color of that letter.

I also worked on the T-shirt quilt.
