update

My plans for my handwork are:
1.    Take the signature quilt with me to bind a. DONE
2.    Take a hand quilting project that I don’t like doing to try and finish. IN PROCESS
3.    Take the extra yarn to make more of the scarves and finally get it all used up
4.    Take the bonus hst with me to press and trim.  These are normally my summer project and maybe I’ll have enough 2” hst to finish up the next border on my bonus triangle quilt. IN PROCESS
5.    Take some applique blocks with me.  I still need to pull the fabric and trace the wax paper to get them ready.
6.    Take a couple of books to read.
7.    Take my graph paper and colored pencils to dream
8.  Handwork on thread catchers

crazy time

ON the road and can't seem to get in here very often.
I did make some thread holders and as soon as I find the cord to download the photos, I'll post a photo of the 4
I'm working on hand quilting a small table topper.
I bought some things at a quilt shop and shot my numbers for fabrics, but I guess that means we need to sew more and faster.

BATIK QUILT

It almost doesn't fit on my design wall.
This one I've been working on a long time.
I have one border on and will end up binding it in the teal batik.
Hope this one gets done sometime soon.
DD says she likes this one.

Updated listing

My plans for my handwork are:
1.    Take the signature quilt with me to bind a. DONE
2.    Take a hand quilting project that I don’t like doing to try and finish.
3.    Take the extra yarn to make more of the scarves and finally get it all used up

Small quilt group

I started off showing off my signature quilt all bound and ready for use.
I like it.
Next I worked on that pink and green quilt that took over my design wall.
I am not sure it is the right size, but I do like it.
Now to get it quilted and bound.
Lana was working on this quilt.
Setting on point and moving with it takes practice and time.
These are normally not my colors, but I like this quilt.

Little more done

well, the day did not go as planned, but I did find time to sew two more rows together.
I have one more to go and then I'll put the second half together.
I know I will need to make it longer, but I'm not sure about wider yet.
I think I will do more pink.
This has turned into a green quilt and Mom would like more pink
I might make some smaller churn dash blocks for the top and bottom.
I'm sure it will talk to me.

Finish

This is Lana's quilt that I finished quilting for her.
It's one of her first.
I put the binding on too, so it is done except for the label.

I also started the binding on the signature quilt.
I needed something to do while waiting at the doctor office.
It will not make it to the trip.
I'm sure it will soon be finished.

Be Lovely

I know this is mostly a quilting blog, but one of the girls that I advised for her Girl Scout Gold Award Project is keeping her blog, be lovely open and I thought I'd share it with my readers.

Check it out.  She is an amazing young woman getting ready to start college.  She has such a great attitude and work ethic that I am blessed to have met her and helped her during her Gold Award journey.

I think I am procrastinating

So, I got this out, but really shouldn't be starting something new.  LOL
Instead of doing paperwork, I am putting this together.
I did get Mom's taxes filed this morning.
We had a problem with Dad's military pay, so I had to file for an extension.
I did clean off my desk, but you wouldn't know it now.
So, maybe I deserve a break, right?
I really need to work on packing.
I think Mom will like this.  I need to figure out the size of hospital beds.  I think it needs to be longer.
A pink border with green binding might be nice.

Design Wall

I pulled out some pink and green churn dash blocks.
I need to make 2 more to fill in.
This will end up going to my Mom for her bed.
I need to figure out the size of hospital beds.
I don't know that this will get done now.

moving along

I have binding on Lana's quilt and my signature quilt.
We shall see if I get them done before we leave on vacation.
Make a dozen book marks.
I have 4 of the thread holders ready to hand stitch.
I hope to get a few more ready for the trip.
I sewed the rows together on the batik quilt.  I now need to get the borders ready on it.

bookmarks are easy and fun

These are so fun to make.
I am using up my extra 4 inch squares, so that is more fun.
After trying with strips, I will be able to make those too.
I'll show a tutorial for them the next one I do.
Equessence has an ebay store being started, so I will probably make a few more of these for them.

Small projects

So, I decided that I needed to play a little.
I found this bookmark tutorial.
I made a couple and DD wanted one in these colors.
I only had 2.5" strips and tried this.
I like the effect.

Then I wanted to make some more thread holders from this pattern.
I need to hand sew these together and will take them on the trip to do in the car.
I'll be making more of these to take with me.
I need something to keep me busy on the trip.

Quilting a partially quilted quilt

Lana has a quilt that was one of her first that she had partially quilted.
I took it home to finish up for her.
I think that I might just go ahead and bind it for her too.
She has some problems getting them done.
I have it loaded and it is started.
Hope I get it done today.

Stash Report

Nothing has changed this week.  As soon as I finish the quilt I quilted I will have something to report

Quilting done

I have finally finished quilting this quilt.
I did my famous swirls.  I love it.

Now to unload it, trim and put the binding on it.
What color should I use?

backing

I'm having trouble with the backing for the signature quilt.  I'd hoped to get this done this week and have another finish.  Oh well.....
I am doing more piano keys with the leftover pieces to make the backing larger.  I'm hoping it is enough to fit the width.

Signature quilt top done

This is the final top with all the tulips and Chinese coins on it.
Below are the close ups for those that remember this to find their names.  :)
Lots of memories of folks I was on groups with for a long time.

Thank you for swapping with me.

Half done

I have the Chinese coins on two sides of this quilt.
I now need to make the tulips.
The other Chinese coin pieces are already made, so I hope this goes quickly.

A day to tell

My day was spent with doctor appointments for the family members.
I was so exhausted and then there was a good thunderstorm.
So, I took a nap.  :)
After the nap I started sewing the Chinese coins again.  I think I have enough
Next is putting on the white inner border and that is being done now.
I decided it would be nice to have some tulips in the border, but not before I was cutting them 4", and need to make 3" tulips. :(
That means special measurements
Went into EQ and drew this up to make sure I know what the measurements should be.
Now I will sew the inner border, put on two of the Chinese coins borders and then make the tulips.
Might not be done tonight.

Design Wall Monday

As you can see, I'm still working on this quilt.
I started making the chinese coins border.
I have a few more strips to add to it, but I do like the effect.
I will be adding in the white border first and I'm not sure what I'm doing for the cornerstones.
I wonder if I can recreate the tulip in a 3.5 inch size?
Check out the other design walls.

Stash Report

Judy has us share what our week/month/year looks like in using our stash.
It has made me happy to see what I've actually done with my stash

Added Year to Date               79.50
Added This Month                   0.00
Used This Month                   14.03
Used This Week                    14.03
Used This Year                    136.48

It's been a good week.  I have enjoyed quilting and made some progress on that usage.  I'm not sure how the rest of the month is going to go, but I'm having fun, and that is great.

Center of top is done

I finished the center of the UFO signature block quilt.
I need to put on an inner border and then maybe I'll do piano keys around the outside.
It will take some time, but it seems to be what it needs.
There are a few things I wish I had seen, but it is OK and I'm going to leave it the way it is.

Starting late

Still working on this UFO. I have a had a busy day running around.
My car has new tires.
We are registered as Girl Scouts for another year.
We have our trip being planned by AAA for this summer.
Banking has been done.
Girl Scout financials being worked on.
DD had a baking lesson from a friend.
DD and DH are hunting and I'm in a quiet home.
Woo Hoo, time to sew!

More worked on

This takes a little time to make sure the pieces are all the same width and then sewn together, but I like the way it is coming out.
I have two more columns to put together and one to sew to the other parts.
Then, what will I do with a border?

Puzzle time

So, there are lots of signature swaps I've been holding on to from 2005.
I put them up randomly on the design wall.
I then figured out how long each column was to see what I needed to change around.
then came figuring out the coping pieces for the sizes.
The sizes I have are:
2 x 4
6 x 6
8 x 8
6 x 12
They all need to play nicely together.
I then found my "extra" pieces and filled in with them.
Next is working to make all the pieces fit together.
I have the first 2 of 8 columns together.  I like the way it coming together.

Last of the gifts

I love making these coasters.  Not only are they great to use, they are easy and quick to make.
This was the last gift for the year.  I made it and got my room picked up.  I made such a mess putting all those table runners together.
I really need to go through that UFO cabinet again and re-inventory things.  I'm not sure how accurate my listing is now.  There are still too many, but I'm not sure of the actual items.

Freshman no more

It's sad to know that DD is almost not a Freshman.  Two half days from now and she will be a Sophomore.
How did she get to be so grown up?  Where did that opinionated person come from?  Oh, yes, from the minute she came into this world.  LOL  She is a sweetheart and I can't imagine life without her.
Congratulations on making it through that difficult Freshman year!

I've been asked a number of times -- what are you going to do when DD is out of school?

I'm not sure, but I'm hoping it is more sewing and taking care of myself.

Tote made

I've been wanting to use these fabrics for awhile.
 I like this tote.
I would like the outside pocked to be a bit deeper the next time.

Design Wall Monday on Tuesday

I'm still working on this Sampler Society UFO #4
I decided to add some color to get the columns more the same length.
I'm liking it.  I would like to see if there are any other signature UFOs in my cabinet.
I'm finding I need to go through my UFOs again to redo my list.
I'm not sure it is as accurate as I would like.
The cabinet is still full, so there are too many UFOs in there.

Last Table Runner

So I finally got this one done.
I like it.
I couldn't figure out the outside border, so I went white and bound in the inner border.
I like this one.

3 more table runners done

Notice what I forgot?  I need to figure out a way to make it look like it was meant to be this way.

All required ones are done.  I have one more that needs to be done today, if possible.  I would like to get it finished for DD's Geometry teacher
My finger is sore.

Four Tablerunners

I finished the binding on 4 of the table runners.
I have 3 more quilted and 2 more to add the binding to.
It will be another long day of binding.
4 more UFOs complete
