Not sewing, but using up stash

I've not turned the machine on this week, and I REALLY need to!

I have swap blocks that must get finished and cushions for the camp out next weekend that have to be done.

But, I also got some strip ripped for cleaning strips for the recorders at DD's school. I've used about 2 yards of muslin for that already. Need to do an equal amount of that, so by the time I'm done, I'll have used up 4 yards of muslin. Yeah!!!

Not much going on

I have not turned on the machine at all. Been on the go all week so far. Tomorrow is supposed to be my day.
I did get the love quilt loaded, so it is just to get it quilted.
I only have 1 swap block of 10 done. Need to finish those tomorrow. Otherwise, I won't be able to participate in the swap.
Hope all is well with your families.

plugging away

Happy Easter!!!

I got sidetracked. LOL I am sick of the mess, so I sorted scraps. I need to make more scrap quilts, because I have too much of just about EVERY color. I still have more to go, but became overwhelmed by it all. :( I don't have any more room for those plastic drawers, so I have got to use these up. I found a 2 gallon baggie of red white and blue fabrics that were from many, many years ago. I sorted them and can now use what I have. But, that means I need to make another patriotic quilt. (I only have 3 of them in process right now).

I did get a couple swap blocks made. They need to be mailed by Wed, so I'd better get moving on them.

The backing fits wonderfully on the love quilt, so now to iron it and get that baby loaded! I will be fun to quilt, so I think that will be OK. I'd like to get that done this week too.

I still need to get this stuff going and be done with it. I hate being overloaded. Wish me luck.

Not a huge amount used, but I'm preparing for a good week next week. :) I've done lots of things, but none were finishes.

The only finish was the ships baby quilt that I got the binidng on yeserday.

Busy weekend

I have been blessed with being able to get a few things done.

Yesterday I finished the baby quilt I need for next Saturday. This is also another UFO, so that is double duty.

I've been working on the love quilt, and got the top together today. Still need to get the backing pieced and the quilting done. So, I hope to lod it today.

Mystery quilt top done

I finally got the mystery top finished. I love the border, but leave it to me to get one of them on backwards and have to frog stitch it. LOL Oh well, it is fixed and I love the top. Wish I'd done it in pinks and greens for the teacher quilt I want to make.

Spring Break Week

I've had a little bit of sewing in, but mostly having fun with DD. Today was a day of miniature golf, soccer, and go cars. Don't let an 8 year old have the wheel. Let me tell you that it was a big mistake, and we ran into the side. oh my. I'm sore, and am so happy I have a chiropractor appointment in the morning. Yikes!

Yesterday we had out red hat group. Isn't DD cute in her pink hat? It was a small gathering this time, but we had fun.

Then, in the evening was Disney on Ice -- High School Musical. This is DD and Dad acting funny.

DD got her brace off, so now it is trying to keep her less active again.

I got a baby shower invitation for the 29th and needed a boy baby quilt. I had these 5 ship blocks and just did the 4 patches in blue and white. So, I think it is OK. Now I need to get it quilted.

I received a few more hearts for the love quilt and I need to make my block. I was waiting to see which one I needed to do. That needs to be quilted this week too.

What fun this week of spring break has been.

Mystery in process

Well I got through steo #10 when DH decided he wanted to talk. Humm, that really means for me to listen. LOL

But, I did get through step 10, and I love the quilt.
The next step has the cornerstone color in a small border. I love this quilt. I'll hve to figure out how I'm going to quilt it.
Spring Break starts tomorrow, so we shall see what I get done this coming week. :)

Sunday update

I actually have an update this week to keep with the Judy's challenge. Last week was nothing because nothing happened. LOL

Fabric Added This Week -0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 5.68
Fabric Used This Week - 8.94 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 24.00 yards
Net year to date: - 18.32 yards used

What did I do this week? I was busy. I made a house block with a red background, 2 birthday blocks for the Birthday runaways,

I made some baby quilts for teachers at the school. This is an ABC quilt - look at the fabrics closely, and this is from leftover blocks from another mystery -- I ended up making 3 baby quilts from blocks from this mystery.

I embroidered some words for a friend that needed it for a quilt her office was making.

I made postcards galore and need to make more. LOL

I've been working on a mystery quilt this weekend, but of course, that is not finished, so does not count. I've also been doing some blocks for a swap that will count next week.

It has been a great sewing week, and I feel so much better by sewing.

Sewing Day

It was National Quilting Day. I did sew most of the day.

Had a mystery by Cindy and got through all the clues she posted today. We have 6 to go tomorrow. It is going to be a pretty quilt. I used novelties, so it will become a baby quilt. Seems that is the only thing I do anymore.
Then, I did a house block. The background was supposed to be red. Not sure I like the effect, but, it is done and ready to mail off.

I also cut the heart blocks I need for a swap that is due the end of the month.
I played with the love quilt too, but didn't sew anything. Just planning.

birthday blocks

Well, both of these blocks were challenges for me. They definitely caused me to slow down and pay attention to my 1/4" seam. But, I think they both turned out OK. Each year we send in a fat eighth of fabric and the type of block we want made. Include any instructions, then during your birth month, the rest of the group makes your blocks for you. It is so much fun. My month is in April.

These are for the birthday runaway group. Wonderful group to swap with.

Another UFO and last baby quilt done

I finished another UFO project. This was from 6" squares of alphabet fabrics. It was fun to put together. I used one of Dorothy Young's patterns and it made the block go together VERY quickly.

This was for another 3rd grade teacher at DD's school. She was so appreciative of the quilt. That makes it all worth it. The last one I gave away didn't seem to really care. Maybe it was because of her personality. This one I think will use it and it will be loved.

I did well on my Fab 4 this week. Still need to focus on the horse quilts and get them done.

I have a mystery coming up this weekend, so that will be where my focus is and I still need to finish the cushions for these scout buckets.

a couple more things

I have a friend that needed some words embroidered for a quilt she is doing. Mentor, friend and Mom. I finished them tonight and will mail off tomorrow.

I also sewed the center together on the alphabet baby quilt. I need to add the alphabet border and then decide on the backing and binding. It's green. Wow.

I opened a box that had more love blocks in it. I'm playing with the layout for this quilt and would love to get it done this weekend.

Postcard Day

I have lots of things that are past due. :(

Because of that, I decided I'd just work on things that didn't take lots of time, but I'd feel like I accomplished something.

So, I worked on postcards
I had 2 birthday postcards that needed to be finished.

I had Easter postcards to make.

I had Spring Postcards to make.

I had Leap Year postcards which were way late that I had to make sure to send off. I really like these -- they hop around on the card.

I had a 3D postcard I had to make.

I still have other things which need to be done, but I thought this would allow me to feel like I got something accomplished. They are little, but they do take some time.

Small Quilting Group

Well my small group met on Saturday. I only got to stay for 2 hours because we had a very special friend that was having a birthday party. So, I quilted for a bit and then we went and partied.

Well, Wanda brought in some scraps for dog and cat beds. But, in looking at the bag, we found that there were some large enough pieces to sew together and make the outside bag made and then stuff with the unusable stuff. But, in the process, there were enough strings to make a quilt. There were enough hst pieces to put together another pinwheel quilt. So, we spent some of the time sorting and dividing up the stuff to use for other charity things and Wanda made some dog beds.

This was a practice piece that was in the bag, so Wanda sewed up the sides and it will become a cat pillow.

Wanda brought show and tell and wow, I love the boot. Isn't it just perfect? I think I might have to make this one.
Last month she was working on a strip piecing quilt, she actually made 2 of these, but did a different border on each. The borders bring out a different color in the blocks. BEAUTIFUL!
Lana brought a couple of show and tells too. This 30's quilt top was one we helped her arrange the colors. I love the border on it. She is going to try scalloping it. Won't that be fun?

Here is the blue and brown one she had that we helped with arranging the pieces too.

We have a new member, Glenna, who is going to be leaving us and going to Germany soon, but she is working on a signature quilt for someone in her office.

All I had time to do was sew on the binding for the baby quilt. I finished it later in the day.

Baby quilt quilted

Well, I got busy and did circles on the baby quilt. I need to get this one bound, labeled and delivered next week. So, I'd better get busy.

It feels good to do something.

This weekend was supposed to be my small quilt group. Well, the group will meet, and maybe I can be there for a couple of hours, but I need to take DD to a birthday party in the middle of the day. So, I'll go and then leave to get to the party. She is the only invitee, so it would not be good to not be there.

QOV #60 done

I have not had much quilting time this year, but I did get my last QOV completed today. I did the leaves in the quilting.

sewing, but no quilting

Well, I did a little sewing today. We have a project to make cushions for the scout troop for our camping trip. So, this is my first test of the cushion. DD likes it, and it will work. Not 100% happy with it, but....
It will use up some of my stash, so that is a good thing. At about 3/4 of a yard per unit, and there are 16 girls, that is a good deal.

Sunday update

Sunday update for Judy.

Fabric Added This Week -0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 5.25
Fabric Used This Week - 0 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 15.06 yards
Net year to date: - 9.38 yards used

Well, I can't say I did anything this week. It was worry about DH being in a car accident in Ohio while I was at home in TX. Too much time on the phone.

I did work on 2 baby quilts, but not any finishes.

I need to do postcards and different things, but life has not allowed it.

Praying next week is better.
