Pixelated Witches Hat

Halloween isn't really my time of year.

In 2013, I lost my Daddy.

I didn't do anything at Halloween for many years after that day, but DD's roommate is having a birthday party on the 31st.
So, I made a witches hat.
it's a Pixelated Witches Hat by Create with Claudia
Her pattern uses 2.5" squares and I needed a pillow a bit smaller.
So, I used 2" squares and added a border to get it to the size I needed.

BOW #10

The Hill Country Mod Quilt Group is doing a Block of the Week.
This is block #10.
These are my 10 blocks.

Having fun

I have one more ornament to make and I'll have all that I need.
I might end up making more because they are fun, but maybe not right now.
An October pillow just in time.
This is going down to DD's apartment.

Last NBAQG quilt

This has lots of novelty print in it.
I reminded me of love, so I quilted hearts all over it in orange thread.
I tried a new item for the check spring in the long arm bobbin area.
I don't know if I need to add oil to the case to keep it in the bobbin case or if it is just me today.
I've been dropping things.
I had an extra box that I ended up putting all my envelopes in.
I like that look better than just having things in an open box.
I'm making progress in getting my room to look better.
DD is home for a few days, so I might not get as much done.

I need to get this Stonehenge one made for Christmas.
the candy corn is just a fun pillow that I want to use some fancy stitches on it.
This will be a long-term item that needs to be done by Christmas.
I found material I think will work.
I need to measure all the shirts
Next will be to stabilize the shirts.
Next will be to decide placement to figure out sizes to cut the shirts.
It is for a dear friend's son, so it will be a pleasure to work on.

Quilting is more fun than Housework has us working on scraps.

100% from scraps and ready to quilt.
All from the scrap drawers to make ornaments
This is another UFO and the corn and the stripe are all from scraps.
Pulled out scraps for a fall 9-patch.
Talk about scrappy, this is all the bits and pieces from leftovers for many years.
I am going to quilt it and then make it into totes.

Challenge

The Hill Country Mod Quilt Group has a coloring challenge.

I colored it and then tried to thread paint, but I am not thrilled with the threadwork I did on it.
I need some pillows for November, so here is one of them.

Friday

The guild is doing more storybook quilts and these are for one of them.
Fall colors in a 9-patch.
Block #9 of the BOW for my small guild.
Only 3 more weeks to go.

Funk Feedsack

This UFO had the feed sack cut apart.
It had squares ready to sew around the block.
But, I didn't like that.
It would have made it an odd size.
See the second half on the left?
So, I looked up what Funk G Hybrid was.
It isn't sold anymore, but it was corn.
So, I went looking for corn patterns.
I couldn't find one that was long and skinny.
So, I took a photo and made my own design.
I used some of the fabric I had in the UFO bag.
I notice that I should have made the top a little pointer, oh well.
I want to quilt this before I make a pillow out of it and I need to figure something else for the other one.
I need to have this done by Tuesday.

Change of plans

I knew I needed to go with DD to get her ID card.

I knew I needed to return some Amazon items.

I knew we needed to vote.

I knew we would want to eat something.

I knew I wanted to sew on my Snowflake Star pattern.

Well, last night I only slept 4 hours because Cedar season is beginning.

If you don't live in Texas or around cedar trees, you have probably never seen them smoke.

Here's a video about the pollen being dispersed by the lovely cedar tree.

No, it isn't that bad yet, but I am feeling it already.

So, all that to say I'm tired, really tired.

But, we did get the ID card, we voted, we ate, and we returned the Amazon items at Kohl's department store.

Did you know that they give you a 25% off your purchases for returning items to Amazon at their store?

I didn't, but DD and I took advantage of the discount.

We did some Christmas shopping.

I'm happy about that, but I am tired.

Now I need to wrap them so I can hide them. LOL

We ate at the Hon Machi Korean BBQ in Live Oak, TX.

YUMMY!

We spent a couple of hours there cooking our food and enjoying ourselves.

As soon as DD left, I tried to take a nap, but the phone wouldn't let me.

When I got up, DH asked me to make him a pouch for some new hunting headphones.

I'd never made a zippered pocket in a bag before, but I found youtube on it.

This is the best one I found from Professor Pincushion.

The bag is done and it fits the headphones.
I think I could have made it about an inch wider, but it works.
See the headphones work well.     The pocket was for the earplugs.
Overall, I'm happy with the finished product.

I"m too tired to sew the snowflake star pattern.
Maybe tomorrow.
I'll be home alone. 👍😁

COVID 7 -- Lucky 7

The center is done.
I need to put the border on, but that is another day.

Finished

Placemats are bound and ready to mail.
Another guild charity quilt is done.

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

Chili Pepper placemats

Chili Pepper placemats are quilted.
I should have allowed more room between then to bind a different way, but I'll now do my binding as normal.

It's been a good day

I quilted the nurse's quilt with meanders and the borders have flowers in them.
These are the two bundles of Chinese Coins.
I still have extra pieces that are not the right size, but I used much of this UFO.
Now to press and see how much more I need to make.

Design Wall Monday

       I'm linking to

This design wall has three projects on it.
The far left is the Chinese Coins for the pineapple quilt.
The center is the blocks from the Snowflake Star Class with Kimberly Einmo.
I still need to trim the blocks and make more.
She taught the class on Zoom and it was as good as an in-person class is.
Well, except you didn't get to talk to your neighbor and see what everyone else was doing.
I finally put another row on this quilt.
My goal is to work through it this week and get it off the design wall.
I need to start working on a T-shirt quilt for a friend and then one for my daughter.

Two design walls with 4 projects.

I am still putting my studio back together.
I am still working on the studio.
I need to figure out storage for a few items I use often.
I ended up putting some other items into another crate, so I still have two crates to go.
Most of my sewing gear I use often is contained in makeup drawers
I think they are going to work well.

Quilting is more fun than Housework has us working on scraps.

These are the ornaments I've finished.
I need approximately ten more to go.
I'm enjoying working on them as I am in the car.
I still need to add the hanging threads.
I worked on this a little bit.
I have another row sewn on.
I am needing this off the design wall, so I hope to get to it this week.
