Prairie Moon

Prairie Moon challenge

Organize your finished quilts

How does she do it?  I've been looking at that pile of quilts thinking I need to do something different with them.
I normally don't have many hanging around, but it seems I have not found homes for too many of them.

Zen things:

1. Do one thing at a time.
2. Do it slowly and deliberately.
3. Do it completely.
4. Do less.
5. Put space between things.
6. Develop rituals.
7. Designate time for certain things.
8. Devote time to sitting.
9. Smile and serve others.
10. Think about what is necessary.
11. Live simply.

I'm quilting

finally, I got the purple and green quilt loaded and have almost the first pass done.
this is a big quilt, so it is going to take some time.
It feels good to run the long arm!

Prairie Moon

Well, another week has gone by and not a bit of sewing. :(
I worked on some of the prairie moon items, but not all 10
This week the challenge is:

Choose one thing you've discovered needs more work, and work on it

This could be so many things.

I think I am going to pick putting my books up on the shelf.

Not great, but something

Choose 10 things to deal with

Blue is for Sunday 8/16/15
Orange is for sunday 8/23/15
  1. I think my first thing to do will be paperwork/filing--I started this, but got sidetracked. Finished filing my paperwork
  2. I need to find a home for my essential oils that are taking up desk space. Found a 3 drawer container to allow it to be on my desk, and be neat.
  3. DONE I have cups and cans that need to be washed or thrown away.
  4. Finish loading the purple and green quilt. --Almost loaded loaded and started quiliting
  5. Fix the umbrella (needs the fabric stitched to the frame.
  6. Find backing for Oh Henry
  7. Put up the quilting books I found downstairs. Put up half of the books.  Looking for second stack in a bag. DONE
  8. Re-organize my batting pieces
  9. Get some of DD's items out of my space.-- two things gone, many more to go
  10. Organize top of desk for easier use. Partly done because of the other items.
  11. DONE Organize zippers for use in bags.

Prairie Moon Organizational Challenge

My week was NOT one that allowed me to do much of anything but band booster things. :(

I did a few other things with my computer files, but not at all what needs to be done.

Stash report

Absolutely NOTHING has changed.
I've not even been able to turn on my sewing machines -- any of them.

Judy has us keep track of what our stash is doing.
I went to a quilter's retirement sale and only bought a yard of fabric.
I bought 3 yards on the row by row, which is pretty good.
Had 3 UFO finishes this week, but they were small.

Used this Week:                              4.95 yards
Used year to Date:                      273.43 yards
Used this Month (August)                4.95 yards
Added this Week:                             0.00 yards
Added Year to Date:                     80.75 yards
Goal:                                                300 yards

Yards to quilt goal:                       20.52 yards
Net Used in quilts 2015:            179.48 yards

A couple of other fun facts are:

Prairie Moon is doing a 350 blocks challenge this year:

Prairie Moon Package

I've had this package for a week, but have not had time to even think about it.
It has so many lovely things in it and is my treat for the month.
What fun.
Now to find time to play with it.

Procrastination challenge

Prairie Moon has a year long challenge going.
This week is:

Clean up and back up your computer files

This is an on-going process.
My DH had a problem with outlook and I was thinking I needed to look at what I had going on.

Thanks, I've not been on the computer for anything but band booster things, but hope this week slows down some.

Design Wall

This is one of my UFOs

Prairie Moon Procrastination Challenge

Prairie Moon Procrastination number is #9, and that is zippered pouches for me.
It looks like the pieces are all sewn together and I just need to assemble.
I just bought lots of zippers at a quilter's retirement sale, so if I have more pieces and need a zipper, I have them with me.

Stashbuster's Numbers

This month's number drawing is:

 1. 9 patches bright/white

I couldn't find this one.
I think it was used with the 6" blocks a few months ago.
I still need to quilt that one.
So, I'm going to substitute the purple and green 9 patches.
It is number 109.

55. Flower garden top - small 9 patches with book
This was a project that turned out the squares were so small back then that I couldn't deal with them.
I'm not sure how many are done, but there are a few.
DD wanted a new book shelf.
This is the one she picked.
Her Dad and her built it today and now she needs to get all her books into it.

Another decluttering challenge

The kelly and cindy kick butt challenge
this started yesterday, so I think I might just start where they are, which is the coat closet.
Now, mine is not by my front door, it is by my back door.
I had organized it, but I'm sure there are things that could go.
I'll check back in to see what it will look like when gone through.

Prairie Moon Eradicate a PIle

OK, so my pile of boxes are gone.
Yes, there is a trash can there for ease of use.
I don't bend very well right now.
The screening is a project DD and I are working on.
The quilt is being repaired.
I can only work on it in the day time because of the black.
The seat can be used now and it feels better.
Working on DD's room too.
I really want to quilt.

Lovely Year of Finishes

I think I want to quilt Oh Henry and get this one done.
It could be for a music type gift since most of the fabrics are musical.
