Burger Queen Mystery

I finished the quilt last night when I was watching TV with DH. It is fun with the neat border. Mary loved it, so that is what is wonderful.

I came home and quilted the next love quilt. I hope to get it bound tomorrow.

That leaves one more to do. I need to do the backing first on it.

Happy Boxing Day

Well, I knew not to go into the stores today, so our quilting group got together at Ina's house and had a wonderful day. I am blessed to have found this group and love being with them. They are going on another retreat on New Years Day. I don't want to leave the family because it is a special time for us, so they are leaving me home. I know they will be having a great time.
DH gave me the gift of a big board for Christmas. This piece of furniture he found and then built the top for it. We are going tomorrow to get the silver fabric and put the batting on it. I need to find the place for the iron to go on the edge of the wood. DH also got me a Rowenta iron to go with it. What a guy!
If finished the birthday block I needed to do for December. It got lost in my sewing room, and I found it while wrapping presents.
I needed to add some to the backing that was sent for the love quilt. I wanted to make the top a little larger, so I added the extra borders to make loading the quilt a little easier.
This is the Burger Queen Mystery that I started earlier this year. I finally pulled it out and finished the top. I was not happy with the center without the borders. I thought it was too small and didn't appeal to my tastes. Ina showed us some of her tops that she needs to get quilted and I loved this border arrangement. I had extra yellow and lots of blue scraps, so I finished it up. I like the end results. The blue border set the center off. This will be another love quilt that I hope to get done by Monday.
When I got home, I finished up this JOY door hanger. Isn't it cute? Wanda used left over pieces to make this baby quilt center.
Wanda got this pinwheel quilt from someone that didn't want to finish it. Not my colors, but I like the result. She finished the top and then found some border fabric. Ina had the green for the inner border.
Here is the finished top. How beautiful is that???
Lana was working on this Christmas quilt and got the center put together. She plans to get the borders on this weekend.
Ina was making this beautiful blue and white quilt. I love this block. Lots of bias edges. Here are more of the blocks she finished.
This was a very productive day and very enjoyable.

Gingerbread apron. It is being used today while we bake.A fun vest patron. Looks really interesting to try.Bobbin bikinis. Sounds like a fun way to keep things neat.Looks like a yard of this blue fabric with white trees and silver snowflakes. Beautiful!!!
Chocolate. Maybe this will help my cravings.Christmas Music. What better gift than that? I love these artists too.

embroidered towel

DD's riding instructor has lighthouses in her bathroom, so I decided to give a gift of towels with lighthouses on them for her Christmas gift. She loved the,m, and I'm so happy. This is the first time I've embroidered on towels this thick. I need to get better at aligning and not being so stingy with the water soluble on top.

I've sent off 136 5" squares to a friend that needs some novelty prints. That I have.

third retreat day

Lana got her quilt as you go quilt ready for binding.
Ina's quilt she made this weekend. Isn't it pretty?
This is a name plate that was made by one of the stampers. How creative is that?
Elva made another baby center for charity. That lady did sew this weekend.
The last day of the retreat seemed to go ever so slow. I was not moving fast at all.
Here is a pillow for a teacher. Wanda had this fabric that went great with the pattern and my red fabric.
I did get another tree wall hanging pieced. I like that it only has the 2 blocks for the trunk.
My pineapple blossom blocks. Pretty pattern, not so pretty fabrics. I don't do pastels all that well.
Overall, the retreat was a success. I was really happy with my accomplishments.

Secret Santa

Well, I opened my Misfit SS box tonight. I LOVE IT ALL!!! You will see why!
Here is the box ready to open.
The packages waiting to open. Isn't the paper pretty?
I LOVE THIS!!! I was making these for DD's teacher, but didn't have time to do it for myself. :) I'm thankful for this. The ornaments are all hung on the tree. There is a flower at the top, 2 trees, candy cane, ornament ball, a gingerbread girl, Santa, a stocking, a sleigh, 2 presents, & a snowman. It is beautifully quilted -- Metallic thread on the tree, off white on the background. It is BEAUTIFUL!!! To think I just made 2 for teachers and didn't think I'd have time to make one for me, well now I don't have to! THANK YOU!!! Now, do I hang it in the dining room or the kitchen? Do I hang last year's wall hanging in the dinning room or the kitchen? LOL Oh my, decisions.
Second is something from the stash. It is a Lazy Girl Design -- Sassy Bag. It is a 3-pocket purse with plenty of Sass. I like this one. Looks like something that will help me use up some fqs. I can see myself making a few of these. Can't wait to try it. Wouldn't it be neat in red hat fabric????
My favorite color is red, of course. The cocktail napkins will be used. The Christmas fqs are so much fun. Would they make a cute purse????I've been craving chocolate, so she sent me my favorite -- how did she know???? Milk Chocolate Caramel Filled Ghirardelli Chocolates. I'm hiding these from DD!
Her favorite recipe is Mildred's Brownies. Yummmm. I'm baking tomorrow, so they are on the list now.
Look at this cute ornament. It is so fun. It is a spool of thread with ribbon threaded through a button on the bottom and top. The ribbon on top is held in place by a quilting pin. I LOVE IT!!!!
I've never been disappointed by a Secret Santa. I love that someone that enjoys the same thing that I enjoy, will be sending something special to me. Ruth Ann, you out did yourself!!!! I love it all!!! I am so excited to go and hang this wall hanging and hang the ornament on the tree.
Even with all the drama that was had during this secret santa time frame, I think that overall, everyone was pleased with their packages. I just pray that folks remember that the getting is all fun, but the giving is really special. The reason we do this is because of Christ, so, let's put the true meaning back into CHRISTmas! I pray everyone has a family filled CHRISTmas!
