Design wall Monday

Frog and flowers quilt
I have a flower on the sewing machine that isn't up here.
I need to make a couple more to fill out the quilt.
The T-shirt chaos.
We noticed that one of the lock in shirts was missing, so I found one and will add it in.
I need to stabilize those two and move on with the center.
We have a plan, so that is a good thing.

A little progress

Yesterday didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, but this morning I went ahead and quilted some.
These are the T-shirt pieces on the small design wall.
HST project that I need to move to put the T-shirt quilt on.
I have more HST to make, so the T-shirt quilt becomes priority.
Finished up the baby quilt top.
And I wonder why I have more fabric in my cabinets?
This is why.
This is what was leftover from the baby quilt.
It has to find a home in the fabric cabinet.
I guess I really should start something new.
Mysteries4Military Mystery.
I finished putting the top together.
It is on the small design wall, so the photo opportunity is not very good.

Studio Organizing

Last week I was working on surfaces.
Below is my cutting surface Before
and After

It's stayed that way this week.

then was my pressing table.
I really had little room to press and now
      Before                                                                                                       After

The Desk was the third place, and most difficult place.
This is where DD does her homeschool work and where I do my digitizing and reading email.
It is always a mess.
 Before
and After

So, did I succeed in all the places, no, though I really did make progress in some areas and found new spots that need help

This week's goal is

Spend at least 30 minutes putting things away

I think this is something that gets me when I am working on things in the studio or around the house.
If it doesn't have a place, it tends to go in my studio.
I have a mess by my fabric cabinets, which includes some filing and a project that just needs to be done.
Then, this corner always collects things.
I doubt I'll have time to go through the stuff in the far corner, but all the things on the chairs and in front of the UFO cabinet can be put in their places.

Thanks, Prairie Moon, for coming up with things that need to be done.
Hope your Cowboy gets to feeling better soon.
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving.
We are just staying as the family and DS doesn't have to work, which is a blessing.

Sunday acttivity

Spent the day with Youth Orchestra of San Antonio (YOSA)
I was one of the parents downstairs while the 4 groups of kiddos came in to practice and then perform for us.
They are an amazing group of musicians.

My daughter sitting down.

Very happy after the event.
I didn't get anything else done by the time we got home.

A couple of other fun facts are:

Prairie Moon is doing a 350 blocks challenge this year:

I was in the studio, but it was mostly cleaning and embroidering.

Progress

I didn't get to sew that much, but I did get to embroider.
I have my wonderful machine working again.
 I made 10 towels.
I started to shadow the T-shirts.
Still a long way to go...
The QOV needs batting cut and then I can load it.

It feels good to be done something in the studio again.

I won

Cooking up Quilts had a giveaway and I won. :)
It's exciting, because I rarely win anything.  I got to choose a book. I'll show you what I got when it arrives.
Check her site out.

Finished or not Friday

I'm still where I was last week.
I am ready to load a QOV and quilt it.
I just need to stop cleaning.  LOL
The cleaning bug hit and I seem to be easily distracted.

Ear bud case

Somehow I got the pattern all wrong and had to wing it for the final step.
The zipper was upside down. :(
anyway, I learned from it and hope to make another one soon
Back of the pouch is fine.

Front of the pouch is messy inside.

Next time I will know what to look for.
At least I sewed something.

Studio Organizing

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge had me setting time to clean the studio.
I did clean. I went though, filed, tossed and rearranged two big bins.
What I really need to work with is the two kiddo baby clothing quilts and then 2 huge containers would be gone.

This coming week is:
Clear off your main work surface

This is always a good one.
I will work on the cutting table,
the pressing station, and
the desk.
They are horrible, and they could use some additional help.

My desk is always a mess.
I wonder if I can figure out how to not have that happen.
Between papers, school work and "stuff" it is never clean for any length of time.

I did work on cleaning up the studio and am happy I did.
I found a number of things that I was missing.
The cutting table is a mess because I have been using it to go through boxes in the studio

I do think the cutting table and the pressing table will be easy to get cleaned up.
Now, the desk is another story, but I'll give it my all.

Yeah!
There should be another clue on Friday, so it can sit and grow on me.
I'm not happy with the scrappiness of it all.

Organization Challenge

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge is to pick something from this article by A Quilting Life .
I'm picking #7

7.  Schedule time to clean and organize in the sewing room.

Just as I do certain household cleaning tasks on the same day each week, I also try to keep a regular schedule in my sewing room. Of course it's not always possible, but I feel that having a plan in place does help me stay on top of things.

On Saturdays I trim scraps from the week, and I try to trim left-overs from projects as soon as a project is finished.

I am going to have to really work on this one. I think Thursday afternoons would be the best time for me to work on my studio.

Of course, I made a bigger mess yesterday on this task trying to get my hand sewing items in order.
I was getting a lesson in how to hand quilt and pulled all of them out (this pile of bags was getting to me) and see what I had. I now need to determine what I really need to keep in containers and what needs to be consolidated.

Goodies

I won two batik FQs.
That fox in the back is like a cell phone purse
A little owl pin cushion
A little paper pieced music note and keyboard with red, black and white fabric.
Fingertip lights
A cutter to wear on your finger
A patterncard
I'm missing the little owl pattern I bought.
Lots of jewelry.

Houston

I didn't take many photos, but I had a great time at the Houston Quilt Festival.
Scrappy quilters had us meet at the bus at 0630 in the morning and 1530 from Festival.
I totally loved going on the bus.
Lorena and I took to the shopping first,

Lunch was a salad and fruit, and then raced through the quilts to stop at the ones that were our style (she and I have different styles.)
We went back through to get the things we were thinking about. and then we collapsed.

It was a fun time.
My feel are tired, my body aches and I'm a happy quilter.
I'll post photos of what I got when DD is out of the house.
One is a present. :)

UFOs

My Eric Carle Quilt is my One Monthly Goal
I hope I have the ability to finish this one.
As a baby quilt, it will be going to a good group.

All People Quilt Number for November is #9
That is my Green and Brown Woven Border.
There isn't much of it and if I could find something else to add to it, that would be wonderful.
I wonder how it would look on Gypsy Wife?
Something to think about.

Stashbuster # draw

The November Numbers for stashbuster are:
#1 - 2017 Band T-shirt
This is not ready to finish yet.
I need one more shirt for this year to add to the T-shirts.
They might be able to get it to me and I can just continue on the path of getting this done.
#47 Fall Panels
The December low number is #10
This one was finished.
I'm not exactly sure which quilt it was, but it is done, so that is good.
The large number for December will be drawn in late November.

I know the 2017 Band T-shirt Quilt will have to wait, so it isn't going to be done.
The Fall Panel is a good possibility.
It looks like there is a good possibility of it being finished in November.

I find it interesting how the numbers go each year.
Apparently I have not finished some of 2015 Numbers and they are picked again.  LOL
