Design Wall Monday

  I'm linking to

This is the Grannies Mystery from Scrappy Quilter.
I finished all but one.
It is the grandmother's Flower Garden block which will be done by hand.
I am working on it.

I decided to give my spot over to another person who wanted to swap.
I was only doing it to support a friend, so I'm OK with not swapping.
I like the block, so I might make a quilt with them, but not swap.
It's off my list for now.

I'm working on my Grannie's mystery.
I have one more block which is a grandmother's flower garden.
That might take a bit because it is done by hand.

I made three totes.
This was from a panel with tote bag instructions.
The bag was a good size for the quilt.
I copied the instructions for the next bag and used cotton webbing for the handles and the fabric from the back of the quilt.
The quilt fit perfectly in the bag.
The ombre fabric was fun.
I used a burgundy fabric for the lining and made the handles from the lining.
The quilt fit perfectly in the bag.

I hope I can meet up with the quilt recipients on 6 July to celebrate their graduation.

 It's been a productive week.
I sewed every day and had longer sessions.
I had a problem where one of my lower cabinets was emptied for a plumbing problem.
I took that opportunity to get rid of some items.

Old blue jeans I'll never use are on their way to a new home
These space bags came out of the cabinet.
Some more pillow forms.
I need to fill the pillow covers and get these donated.
Batting, blue jeans, etc were stored in the cabinet.
This is the cabinet with lots less in it.
The pillow forms are with the pillow covers waiting to be stuffed.
The batting is with the floor pillow to stuff it more.

Quilting is more fun than Housework has us working on scraps.

Shark Postcards came from the scrap drawers.
I had fun making a beach theme from my scrap drawers.
I had just enough of the sky fabric to cover the postcards.

Grannie's Block

This was block #12
Lots of little pieces.
My seam allowance isn't what it used to be.
I will be practicing to be more accurate.

One block remaining.
A grandmother's flower garden.
I'm working on it.
Next is the sashing.

Tote Bags

These tote bags are to hold the graduation quilts.
I coordinated them to come close to the quilts.

Prairie Moon Challenge

 Prairie Moon's Monthly Challenge

is to

clean your sewing machine.

I do that with each of my bobbin changes.

I just completed it yesterday, so I suppose I'm done with the challenge.

The Long Arm doesn't get all the help it should have.

I clean the bobbin area after each bobbin.

I oil the machine after 2-3 bobbins.

But, I don't clean the tracks and general dusting very often.

That should be my task this week.

Mess

Yesterday I worked on this mystery block.
If I'd been able to sew the third one without ripping, it would be finished.
But, I ripped the third block out three times.
Three times the charm.
By that time, I was done for the day.

Today brings a mess
The plumber came in and wanted to see the access panel to the extra bathroom.
There has been a leak for a while.
They wouldn't believe that there wasn't an access panel on that side of the studio.
So, unload the bottom shelf.
Amazing, no access panel.
So, I have this huge mess.
It will take me weeks to clean it.
I'm thankful I didn't have the floor pillow up here.
I'm thankful I had cleaned up some of this area.
Now, I suppose the process is "what do I need to keep?"
I see space bags will pillow form.
I will see if I can get those covered from orphan blocks and give them as gifts or donate.
It needed to be cleaned out, so I will suck it up and make decisions one piece at a time.

Postcards

Shark postcards
Oh my, those teeth gave me fits.
The one on the right seems to need some dental help. LOL

One attempt, if you look closely, my shark teeth are glued to the pressing paper.
Really?
Yep, I apparently couldn't tell right from wrong sides. 😕
The sharks went in the mail this afternoon.

Beach landscape.
I had trouble fusing too.
That green is sewn between the two pieces and then fused.
Would you believe I left the paper on one of them? LOL
It was easy to rip out, but.....

I am caught up on my swaps and am ahead.
I have one more to do, but can't do it until I get my swap partner's names.

This is the block I made today.
It took me two days, but I finished it.
Thank you, Judy, for helping me by cutting it out for me.
I am practicing my accuracy again.
Practice Makes Permanent!

These are the blocks I have done so far.
Three more to go.
I can't find my 1" hexagons.
Where are they?
Only time will find them.
But, I ordered some and will do the EPP when they arrive.
Judy cut the other two and I'm working on the basket block.
It has fewer pieces than the other one does.
There are VERY tiny pieces in that block, you will see it later.

It feels wonderful to be accomplishing something.

Design Wall Monday

  I'm linking to

This is the Grannies Mystery from Scrappy Quilter.
Judy, a quilter friend, offered to cut for me.
She has cut the four remaining blocks.
I have one started but didn't finish it on Father's Day.😀

I did try and cut the swap blocks.
I don't like my color selection.
The burgundy and gold fabric is not what I want to use.
Now to find a light substitute.
I also found the small 4-patches are a tad off on some of them.
I need to practice more before making more swap blocks.

The coasters I showed you last week are not finished and ready to go with DD.
She was home Sunday, so she can take them back and deliver them.
It feels good to get that done.
This is my OMG finish at Elm Street Quilts

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there.

Me and my Dad in 1965
Happy Father's Day in Heaven.

My husband with our daughter at graduation.
Happy Father's Day.

It's been a weird year.
I was in the hospital on Mother's Day.
Today we are without A/C on Father's Day.
We are in Texas and it is 84 at 10:30.
It's 83 in the house.
The A/C repair guy is on his way.
I hope it is an easy fix and not very expensive.
I know, wishful thinking.

Anyway, much happiness to all the Dad's out there.

I've had a good sewing week.
I was able to do a few more sewing projects, so it was a nice week.
Bandanas take fabric, so I'm in the black for the month.

Quilting is more fun than Housework has us working on scraps.

The sunflower postcards came from the floral scrap drawer that is overflowing.
The apples came from scraps from the bandanas that didn't make it into the scrap drawer.

More Postcards

I've signed up for a number of postcard swaps
Red Theme Postcards
I had this apple fabric, so I thought about falling apples.

The next theme was Sunflowers.
I sent one to DD's roommate that loves sunflowers.

I'm trying to stay ahead of my swap obligations.
I think I'm five ahead now.
Three more to do.

What have I been up to?

I toss my extra fabrics, cut off scraps, etc into a laundry bin by thirty-one.
I used to empty it weekly to make sure I had a clean space.
Well, I have been lax on that for about a year.
I decided to clean it out.
I wish I'd take a photo of the bin before.
These need to be put away, but I'm not able to do it yet.
Next time DD comes home, I'll ask her for help.
These are all the scraps that need to go in the scrap drawers.
The bin after it is empty.
Now to fill it up again.
More coasters are made.
Lots more to go

Bandanas

We are making bandanas for my daughter's roommate's puppy, The Grange and the roommate.
The grange bandanas
Diesel's bandanas
Diesel's Mom's bandanas.
