Finished the PP test wall hanging

finished the binding and hanging sleeve on the test wall hanging yesterday.
Can't show the finished design until it is published in TQPM.

It was fun and DD is thrilled to have it.

My Daddy has been gone for 2 years now and I miss him so very much.
Life is so different without him.

After DS gets off work, we are celebrating by going to one of Dad's favorite places -- DQ (Dairy Queen) or Harmon's BBQ.
When we come home we plan to watch a western - his favorite type of show.
Then will be time to just enjoy our family.

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

last week was to clean out a drawer.
I found all sorts of things in this drawer.
I found lots of things that should have been housed in other places, so they found their home.
I also found things that I will never use -- curve master, etc.
Trying to determine what I should do with them to help get them out of my home.
I'm not sure the bamboo sticks are really needed, but there must be a reason for so many of them.
I found one of my favorite thimbles that I've not been able to find in the stores.

This week the challenge is

Choose 3 things you've been putting off doing and do them

What 3 things can I pick?

1. File paperwork
2. Update the new Credit Card where it is needed.
3.  Work on the red and black quilt.

Of course two of the three are not quilting things, but they will help in the mess around the desk.

Join us and check out the Prairie Moon challenge.

PP test quilt & Mattress Sale

Can't show you a photo, but why does it take so long to take out stitching?
I think I quilted that spot in about 5 minutes and I've been working on it for about 4 hours.
But, I learned a couple of lessons, so maybe it was worth it.
I'll finish it up in the morning.
I think I have the design to use and the thread color. Yeah!

Yesterday was a mattress sale in our band hall.

We have a little more than that, so that is a wonderful thing.

Angels UFO is finished

This is my Lovely year of Finishes quilt and I quilted it during our mattress Fundraiser.

Quilted Angels

I finished quilting the angels quilt.
I started the binding today.

It amazes me that people see me doing the binding and tell me how pretty the quilt is, but they only see the back of it.  The backing is normally only one piece of fabric and that is what they focus on.

I'll show a photo when I get the binding done.  It might be done on Saturday because I have a full day event to be at.

Another finish

This is a small table topper that is from bonus triangles.
I hope DD has a teacher or someone that would love these colors.
They don't go anywhere in my home.

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

Clean out a drawer

I have so many drawers that it is not difficult to find one that needs help.
I pick this one.

progress

Can't show you the front, but this is a test quilt that should be published soon.

Added the stripes and need a pinwheel in the center

I did quilt the table runner that matches the one on top.
I'll wait to show that to you when I can show the other one.
it was made from the bonus triangles.

design wall

So, if you have followed me for any time, you know I have too many things going at one time.
I've not done much quilting lately because of my DD's band activities.
I have the black and red bag of items that I wanted to work on this month.
I had not put it up on the design wall yet.
when I opened the UFO bag, I found I had misc pieces in here.
What was my plan?
Who knows and I didn't leave any clues.
So, I took completed blocks and put them on the wall.
The flower garden to the left has been up there for eternity.
It is too small and I'm not yet sure what I'm going to do with it.
but, I have an odd number of blocks to put into a red and black quilt.
I decided on point is best.
The middle block is much smaller than the others.
So, I had hst that are bonus hst.
i arranged them around the middle block.
I need to make two other blocks to fill in the space because I really have 3 disappearing 9 patches, but I don't have more of that fabric.
I suppose i could put the other disappearing 9 patch in the middle and make a pinwheel and fill it in on the two empty spots.
it will all happen with lots of rearranging.

In the mean time, I need to quilt the table topper and get the yellow thread off the long arm.
I then need to quilt the angels quilt so I can finish it this month.

I then want to quilt the Paper Pieced test quilt to put in DD's room.

Then, I'd like to finish the special reach quilt.

AGING

I just can't help but share.
This is not about quilting, it is about aging.

Prairie Moon Procrastination Challenge

Work on organizing books and magazines (and patterns)

So, my books and magazines are fairly organized.
I do have two more containers of magazines that need to go on the shelf.
I could go through them again, but I'm not sure it would help right now.

I have patterns in a drawer, but getting to the drawer is impossible.
So, I think I will work to get the two containers of magazines on the shelf.
I will work on the items in front of the pattern drawer.
I will work to see if there is any order to the patterns.

Finished piecing the test quilt

I can't show a photo of the paper pieced test quilt, but here are the leftover pieces from the project.

Testing

Testing quilts for TQPM is fun.
The problem is I can't share what I'm working on.
I have a test quilt I'm trying to get loaded and quilted.
I have the batting pieced.
I'm really working on getting that usable pile of batting used.
For smaller quilts, I like to piece it together.
I'm making progress there.
This may look like lots, but it used to be over the top of the counter I use as my cutting table.
This is a big change.

So, my two projects for today (we have the day off school) will be my test projects.
Maybe I can load and quilt the test quilt and finish the paper piecing one.

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

This week's Prairie Moon Organization Challenge is

Organize your needles

I did not get those pillows done again.
They are not hard, so why am I procrastinating at getting them done?????

I think I might have this week's done.
When I did my drawer the time ago, I did my needles at the same time.
I don't really have very many needles that aren't in hand sewing areas, so it is an easy task this week.

Maybe I should try and get those pillows done?

Finishes

Monkey N round is finished.
I don't have a home for it yet, but it bound

the girl scout gold quilt is quilted and bound.
Love this pattern.
Bound it in one day.
2 hours at the car dealership and 3 at the hospital.
it's done and ready to box up and mail off.

Prairie Moon Procrastination Challenge

I didn't get last month's done or even touched.
This is NOT the right time of year to accomplish anything.

October's project is #7
it has lots of hst and is in my favorite mix of colors.
We shall see if it gets done this month.
I hope it does.

Girl Scout Gold

I've finally figured out the tension issue on the long arm.
I started quilting the Girl Scout Gold quilt.
It feels good to be quilting it.
It is fairly large, so I imagine it will take some time to bind
I hope to have it quilted by Thursday to bind at the car appointment and Trumpet lessons.

Lovely Year of Finishes

I think this is the one I'm going to finish in October.
It will be ready for a Christmas gift.

This is my Lovely Year of Finishes for October.

Organization challenge

I didn't even get to touch the pillows. :(
I had a busy week, busier than normal if that was possible. Oh well, they will get done one day.

The challenge this week is

Revisit a previous task and work on it again

I think I will try and get those pillows done this week, really, I will.
