Tulip Trio

I call Tulip Trio complete.
I don't have  a photo because my house is torn up with having new flooring installed.
So, hoping to get a photo tomorrow.

Black & Bright top

I have the black and bright top together.
Now to find the backing for this one.
I just want something bright to put on the back.
I'm trying to figure out how to  use my stash, so wish me luck.

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

This week's  challenge is

Choose 10 things to deal with

10 things to put away
10 things to get rid of
10 things to finish up
10 things to work on
10 things to clean

I have no idea which ones I am going to do.
I can't imagine with as messy as I've become this week.

binding

I've not tried this, but it looks interesting for doing binding.

tulip trio

I think I will have the binding done on tulip trio today.  That will be in the nick of time.  I need to post on a Lovely Year of Finishes tonight to get credit for it.

I am working on my design wall things today while they do the flooring downstairs.

15 Minute Spiff Up

This week is challenge for the 15 minutes spiff up is:
Organize all those stray patterns and quilts and paper you've either cut from quilt magazines or printed from the Internet or gotten from a class
This is not going to be a big task for me.
I had those patterns on my book shelf and worked through them when we did it.

I do have a few I have put on the shelf that need to go into binders.
I'm still working on my magazines too.
Then, I found this container in the magazine pile that is full of books.
I'll go through them and get them up on the shelves if I'm going to keep them.

Binding

I am so disappointed.
I normally keep the fabric together to make the binding.
I pulled the fabrics from the stash.
I don't have enough of the yellow, blue or sashing and border fabrics.
I don't want a scrappy binding. :(
I found this that is close to tone of the background.
Guess I am going to have to use it.

Tulip Trio

Tulip Trio is quilted. :)
If I figure out that binding to use, I think I could actually get this done tomorrow.
If I do, I have my finish for A Lovely Year of Finishes.

Quilting with Carol

I worked with Carol today.
Thank you Carol for helping me keep on going.
Didn't do that much, but I did cut more of the 2.5" squares.
I have lots more to go.
I am gradually sewing these into pairs that will get sewn into 4 patches and into 6 patches. and....

I'm so tired that I can't see straight.
Not sure my Lovely Year of Finishes will get done this month.

Design Wall

I have the borders ready to sew together and then on the center.
In looking at the Stashbuster 6.5" blocks for their UFO numbers game, I found more angels.
I'll be adding them in and making a small lap quilt instead of a table runner.
This will be April and May numbers working together.

I really want these off the design wall.

I need to get the band quilt up and running.

I have the purple school quilt designed and ready to start with leftover pieces, so that is another UFO

Stashbuster May Numbers

the May numbers have been drawn.
:(
I've not finished my April numbers yet.
I made progress, and I want them done, but have not finished them.

Anyway, the May numbers are 9 & 88

#9 on my list is Applique turtles.
It will be nice to have an applique project to carry with me.

#88 on my list is 6.5" blocks.
This is actually not a bad one for this month.
DD has asked for a few quilts for teacher gifts at the end of May.
I'll use these to start with to I will not have to make as many blocks.
Most of these blocks are 9 patches, but I have all this leftover pieces of blocks.
I think I am going to try and use some of them in this process.

Cleaning up around machine

My machine area is normally fairly neat, unless I'm working on a complex project.
I did go and dust, adjust the extension table (how do they change adjustment?), put away one project that is done, and evaluated the items still there.
I'm ready to work on the second Monkey 'n Round that is under the ruler to stop it from shifting.
I have my on going hst project behind the machine.
I have my bonus triangles to the right of the machine.
I'm thinking that I might try and make sure the other machines have a neat home too.

Status update

It was NOT a good weekend for quilting for me.
1. Load Tulip Trio and quilt some.
I did get it loaded and think I have a plan, but no quilting was done.
2. Borders on Bright and Black
I have the border pieces cut, but need to sew them together and onto the quilt center.
3. Borders on Animal panels.
4. Clean up some files
I cleaned up files from A-G
5. Clean up some paperwork.
I filed some paperwork.
I researched some band information.
6. Black and White/Silver
I pulled the extra fabrics.
I am using some of a UFO I had started, but am changing the plan.

Monkey 'n round

I forgot to load the photo last night.
This is my inished Monkey 'n round UFO.

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

Prairie Moon -- This week's challenge is to
Clean up the area around your sewing machine
It isn't horrible, and most of it should be there.
But, I could spruce it up and it will bee wonderful.

I received my Cowgirl package today.
Look at all the goodies.
the soap smells so good.
I love the fabric.
I use the finger guards and love them, so that is great.
I needed a smile today.

weekend goal add on

I need to cut and sew on a black and white/silver quilt.
I have one started, but will need to change out a few fabrics.

Lovely Year of Finishes

I can't believe it is the last week of April, and my Lovely Year of Finishes quilt is not quilted yet.
Maybe I can get to it this weekend.
It is storming here,
the back of the house looks like it is clearing

The front is still storming.

We need the rain, but it is the pits to happen on the weekend.
But, it didn't rain at the Battle of Flowers, so all is good.

goals this weekend are:
1. Load Tulip Trio and quilt some.
2. Borders on Bright and Black
3. Borders on Animal panels.
4. Clean up some files
5. Clean up some paperwork.

15 Minute Spiff Up

So, if you go to the red icon on the right, you can get to the 15 minute spiff up site with Bonnie.
The week is
Spiff Up your computerized files where you've stored all your quilting ideas.

Yikes, this will take more than a week to do.  LOL
It is a job that needs to be done.
I know I have things there and no way to find them.
Good idea.

I know my bags section is fairly organized.
I know I want to have a gifts folder.
I know I need a pieced quilt folder.
I know I need a setting folder.
I wonder what else I need?

Binding

I have the Monkey n round binding machine sewn on.  Now to do the hand sewing.

I've added a black/silver quilt to my list.  I need to see if I have any silver fabrics.  I know I have many black/white fabrics.  I do have a UFO that was started, but it has other colors in it, so I might need to modify it.

No sewing

I doubt I will be sewing much the next few days.
I spent today going all around town with band, girl scouts, home and DD errands.
LOL
I left home at 7 am and got back home at 530 pm.
That is a long day.
Tomorrow I am gone all day with the band.
The one love quilt I was binding is done and out of the wash
I doubt I have anything to report tomorrow.
I will still be going through my magazines.
I'll be taking them with me.

Monkey 'n round

It is quilted in brown with large meander and leaves.
After quilting everything lately so densely, this seems too little quilting.

Design wall

I do think I like the black border and then the Christmas print
I'm leaning towards the novelty print for this border.
I am liking the one on the right.

Check out the other design walls at Judy's site.

Loading Monkey 'n Round

I found an animal print to use.
I pieced batting too, so I'm using what I have.
I don't know what thread I'm going to use for this one yet.

Retreat Status

I made progress, but lots of family time with DD happened, so I didn't get as much done as I had hoped.  I am well on my way to finishing a number of items.

1. Love quilt – one side to go and the binding is done.

2.    Get the border on my black and bright UFO – I know that I’m going to do a black/bright/black border with 4-patches in the corners.  The bright is going to be scrappy.  I’m pulling those colors in my breaks. might have changed my mind.  I might use a kids print to bring out the kid fabric in the middle. I have the black cut, but didn't get around to the bright.

3.    Finish the animal UFO – I have the center together.  I Know what fabric I'll use for the border and will put a black 1" border to stop the center.  This is a fun quilt and all out of stash and will be a finished UFO soon!

4.    Load Tammy’s Love Quilt - One last pass and I'll be done with this one.

5.    Start the process for the Band T-shirt quilt – I pulled the band T-shirts.  I thought I had 4, but only have 3, so I will need to adjust my pattern a little.  I need the black and bright off the design wall before I can really focus on this one.

6.    Make 3 thread baskets –Done and delivered

     7.  Organization challenges – I looked at my rulers and I think they are OK the way they are.  I would like another holder to hold the larger rulers, but they fit in-between the two there OK.  If I can, I might take an inventory of them to know what I have for the specialty rulers.  I sometimes wonder why I have specialty rulers.  I don’t seem to use them as much as I thought I would

Thread holders

They are done and delivered.

Quilt Fabrication piped binding

Look at this neat way to bind a quilt.  Quilt Fabrication has a tutorial.

thread baskets

Got the first of 3 thread baskets ready for hand sewing.

Not what I like to see, but I needed music fabric for a band T-shirt quilt.
I've been quilting other people's quilts.

Progress

1. Load and quilt and bind a Love quilt – the love quilt is quilted.  Now to trim and bind it.  I'll put the binding on and then this evening when I'm sitting some with DH, I'll do the hand work. Still working on it.  I didn't sit still long enough tonight.

4.    Load Tammy’s Love Quilt - It is loaded and half a pass done before I ran out of thread. I'm quilting loops and flowers like in the fabric.

5.    Start the process for the Band T-shirt quilt – I pulled the band T-shirts.  I thought I had 4, but only have 3, so I will need to adjust my pattern a little.  I need the black and bright off the design wall before I can really focus on this one.

6.    Make 3 thread baskets – I cut the pieces for these.  They take a little concentration to get right.  Then it is some hand sewing.

Love Quilt is quilted

I need a better way to photograph things, but it is quilted.

Half rectangle blocks

This is a wonderful link with a tutorial for making those difficult half square rectangles.  The modern quilt guild has a great tutorial.

Very slow progress

1   1. Load and quilt and bind a Love quilt – the love quilt is loaded and one pass is almost done.  Why did I choose such a dense pattern?  Oh yes, because it needed it.  I’ll just keep on working on it till it is done.

2.    Get the border on my black and bright UFO – I know that I’m going to do a black/bright/black border with 4-patches in the corners.  The bright is going to be scrappy.  I’m pulling those colors in my breaks.

3.    Finish the animal UFO –I sewed some of the rows together when I was piecing the backing for the Love Quilt.  I have the center together.  I want to figure out what I need to do for the border.

4.    Load Tammy’s Love Quilt

5.    Start the process for the Band T-shirt quilt – I pulled the band T-shirts.  I thought I had 4, but only have 3, so I will need to adjust my pattern a little.  I need the black and bright off the design wall before I can really focus on this one.

First Love Quilt on Frame

It's hard to see the quilting.
It's like a swirl that is echoed.
It is a dense design.
I don't really know why I did it, but that is what I did.
I went around the heart under the bottom layer of raw edged applique.
These are printed on the fabric and I somewhat outlined them.
I had to be creative on the cross.
This shows what the design is best of all the photos.

I'm 1/4 done with the quilting.

After this one is another pink love quilt that I'm going to try a new design on.
The fabric has a flower with squared petals.
I'm going to see if I can duplicate that with pen and paper.
If I can, I'll try it with the machine.

I want some of these quilts that I'm quilting for others to be done so I can work on my stuff.

Friday Fling

On Stashbusters, we have a Friday Fling day.
I decided the pile in the corner was too much.
I went through it and found this:
These are old plastic zippered containers that sheets, pillowcases, etc come in.
I used them to hold projects and such.
Now with zip lock bags, I use those more.
So, these are leaving my home.

Angel UFO

So I have to add to my list.
My Angel UFO jumped out at me when I was in my fabric stash looking for backing.
So, I pulled the Christmas 30's fabrics to see what was there to make a block or two between my two angels.
The upside is I am using scraps in this project. :)
      1.    Load and quilt and bind a Love quilt
2.    Get the border on my black and bright UFO
3.    Finish the animal UFO
4.    Load Tammy’s Love Quilt
5.    Start the process for the Band T-shirt quilt
6.    Make 3 thread baskets

Stashbuster Weekend Retreat

This weekend one of my on-line groups is having a stay at home quilting retreat.  I normally set my goals really high, so these 7 things are what I would LOVE to accomplish.  If I get some of them done, then it will be a success.

      1.    Load and quilt and bind a Love quilt
2.    Get the border on my black and bright UFO
3.    Finish the animal UFO
4.    Load Tammy’s Love Quilt
5.    Start the process for the Band T-shirt quilt
6.    Make 3 thread baskets
      7.  Organization challenges

15 Minute Spiff UP

This is the first week that both my organizational blogs are doing the same thing.

This week's assignment is rulers.

I guess I should really take a look at what I'm doing with my rulers.

I am still working on my magazines.
I'm still working on just general pick up.
I've finished a few projects and not put things away.
I have a couple of projects going that I'm not sure what I'm using.
I also have some paper that needs attention.

so, I might do the rulers and then work on another area.

Magazines

I have made progress.
I don't know if the black crate has magazines in it or not.
I even took them on the bus going to UIL.
It gave me something to do and I am putting an X in the corner for what I don't want to keep.

It's done (lots of photos)

I took photos of each block to try and show the quilting.
This is my FIRST modern quilt.
The First Row

I did double loops in the green.
The border had flowers.

The Second Row.
This was the most difficult.

You can see the double loops better here.
The Third Row.

The Fourth Row.

The sashing had waving lines up and back.
It is done and I hope Tammy likes it.
Check out her free BOM.
