Book It

So, January is almost over.
How did you do?
I used my book for two quilts I had in process.
Quilty Fun I used the book to find 2 new outside borders.
I love some of the blocks, I like the outermost border.
I'm not overly thrilled with some of the blocks.
This border was interesting to me.
I used a second UFO - crumb fabric to make it.
I should have made the inner white square smaller to have a more balanced effect, but it is OK.
I just had someone ask me if she could buy it for her brother.

I consider January's use of the book a success.

Now, on to February.
I did not even remember having this book.
But, I have lots of orphan blocks.
The first one I want to make something from is one left from the quilt a friend quilted and we have on our bed.
I'd like to make something for the dresser or night stand out of it.

What are your successes?
This is my first time using inlinz, so I hope this works.
How you did and what book you are going to use.

Design Wall

Lots of activity this weekend, so my design walls are interesting.
LOL
Up in the upper left corner is the beginning of the wedding Quilt.
I have like 4 of the many HST up
This is the container that will end up on the design wall.
I will just toss them up and then play around with the color scheme of things.
The other design wall has the Jo's club on it.
I have two more 4 patches to trim and sew together.
The FROG quilt is a stashbuster number for February.
I need to find a couple more flower options to put on the sides and then us the background to fill in.
It will be a small car/wheel chair sized quilt.

I have a couple of quilts that need to be quilted before these make much progress.

Check out Patchwork Times for other design wall inspiration.

Patriotic Quilt done

I bound the patriotic quilt tonight.
This is the All People Quilt project for January done.

I am doubtful I'm going to finish some of my other January projects, but they are well on their way to being finished.

I'm pleased.

Tomorrow to quilt Quilty Fun.

Girl Scout Pillows

So, they want to make pillows.
They don't tell me if they want to use the sewing machine or not.
So, fleece pillows it is.
I cut out 9 pillows they can make.
I guess I need to get more pillow forms made in case they want to stuff more.
They had fun with it, so I'm happy.
I am down a few yards of fabric and they have pillows.

Stash Report

Saturday Progress

T-shirt quilt is to the top stage.
I need to get the batting cut and it loaded to get it quilted.
Quilty fun is to the top stage.
I have the backing ready to sew together.
I'm working on the baby clothing quilt.
This is the 4 patches that will then be sewn to the larger pieces.
The patriotic quilt is ready to bind.
I'll take it with me tomorrow to work on while I'm waiting for DD.

I need to clean up the studio and work on a WITB for tomorrow.

February Stashbuster #'s

February Stashbuster #'s
  # 3  animal Applique
This is already traced on freezer paper, just need to get it ironed on the pieces of fabric and get to appliqueing,
and #69.
Remember the FROG quilt?
I need to make flowers to put around this center and it will be ready to quilt.
I don't think this will take all that long once I'm focused on it.

Winter Solstice Cross Wall made

Crosswalk
I'm using as many floral prints as I can.
This one is very bright.
All 6 of the blocks.
The only problem with doing BOM/BOW is you don't get to count the fabric used.

I've also loaded part of a quilt that I'll quilt today.

Progress

This is a Jo's Club
I think I might have the wrong pattern, but it is going to work.
I'll have some leftover HST, but I know I can make something out of them.
T-shirt quilt columns are done.
I now need to frame the two side columns and sew them to the center.
Then, I'll need to add a small top and bottom border to the quilt and can quilt it.
The backing came in, so I will be able to load when I finish it.

I have the outside borders to put on the Quilty Fun top.

When those are on, my goal is to just use the long arm.
T-shirt quilt first
Patriotic quilt second
Quilty Fun third.

If I can quilt some tomorrow, I could potentially get these three finished in January.

I'll have Monday to do some binding while waiting for DD to finish school and music lessons.
It feels good to get this far.

Saving scraps

I've been quilting for a long time and don't tend to throw any scraps out that might be usable.
Now that I'm doing applique, I find I can use more than before.

Prairie Moon showed us how she organizes her scraps and asked how we organized ours.
I've shown mine before and got some fairly nasty comments.
Please, if you are going to be nasty, don't post.
I know I have a scrap problem and I use them, so I feel good about having them organized by color and sizes
This shows the majority of the bins with anything that is less than a FQ in them.
They are organized by color.
You can see that I use lots of blues.
I do wish I had the same bins to make the stacking a bit easier, but they work.
This is the rest of the colors and then the novelty prints, Christmas prints, non-quilting fabrics, florals.
Above them are the pre-cut sizes.
I have found that I really do not use the cut ones as much as I thought I would.
If I have a quilt that requires many colors of the same sized squares, then I go to them.
If it is for a specific color, I tend to cut them instead of looking in the drawers.
I'm trying to be better at checking these, but I don't find it that useful for me.
This is the string bins.
Yes, I have two.
They multiply.
I used to make heartstrings, but somehow stopped that.
I use them when I need to have strings, and i use them when I need a certain color in strips.
I really would like to make up more of the string blocks, but I have so many other things I'm working on that it is on the back burner.
For now, I am collecting them to use in MANY MANY quilts.

WITB

I found lots of fun things in this bag.
there is a plastic bag holder that I want to use as a pattern.
I put it with things to do.
I found paperwork, yes more paperwork and filed them.
Some things that went in the trash.
2 more things donated
I found lots of Prairie Moon patterns and filed them in the pattern drawer.
I really need to use more of these.
the next container was mostly label cartridges and kleenex.
I thought I'd used all of these up.
I think I'll be making more for gifts.
The purple bag had lots of paperwork in it.
Yes, you are thinking I have too many bags and too much paperwork.
This is exactly WHY I need this challenge more than others.
I honestly don't know why I have so much not filed, but I do.
This is the filing for 2017.
I still need to set them up, so it is not filed away yet.
Purple bag is empty, but I used it to carry around the quilt I needed to bind.
It is a test quilt, so I can't show you the quilt, but it is bound and almost ready for delivery.

My To Do List this week
(yes, I know I won't get it all done, but anything is better than nothing.)
1. 5 WITB
DONE 2. Bind Test Quilt
3. Make label for Test Quilt
4.T-shirt Quilt to top stage
5.Quilt QOV
6. Quilt Patriotic Star
7. Work on Jo's Club
8. Winter Solstice block
9. Make headphone pouch
10. Quilty Fun to Top stage.

I already had the list made before I posted it, so I'm going to count #2 done.
I've done 2 WITB this week so far, so I'm on track there too.
I have one more side of Quilty Fun to sew down and then a quick outer border in yellows.
I hope it is going to be a good week because we don't have anything out of the ordinary this week.
I should be home more.

Sunday's WITB

This was a fairly newly created bag, because I've not had this purple bag for long.
Looks like lots of paperwork.
Yep, lots of paperwork.
I filed most of it.
This needs to be filed, but the 2017 files are not together yet.
Maybe that is a task for this coming week.
I think I'm going to use this bag to put some of the items in the stack that are not in boxes or bags.
I'll be able to handle it a little at a time.

What's in the bag

I actually did this bag on Saturday, but DD was on the computer lots and I didn't post it.
The bag
This had velcro, toys, coasters, school supplies, modeling clay.
I needed the modeling clay for Girl Scouts.
Name labels that DD can use for College.
All have been put in their homes.
I gave away 4 items from this bag.

I finished quilting a quilt yesterday, so i should be binding it this week, so I'll make some progress for next week.
I've been sewing, but mostly on blocks and I don't count until the quilt is finished.
I should take this next week and just finish things on the long arm.

Check out the other stash reports at Patchwork Quilts.

Progress

Pat Sloan Winter Solstice block.
I don't like this type of applique.
The 5 blocks together.
I've been working on testing a BOM for a friend, so I can't show you that one.
As the leader/ender, I've been sewing on the T-shirt quilt.
Apparently I did not figure the length right. :(
I need to as some more green in between the blocks.

The quilty fun is coming along too.
I think I have an idea for final borders.
Oh, I quilted a test quilt too.
Can't show that one either.

Purple blocks

This is Block M done in the purples again

Here are the two together from this month.
The next block for Sparkling Stars comes out on the 1st, so it will be February's colors.

New BOM

Check out BOM QUILTS for their new BOM Happiness is Quilting.
They seem to be easy, fun patterns.
Come join us to see what we are working on.
The fabrics from Abbi May's Quilt Shop are adorable.
Go check them out too.
These are the fabrics I pulled from my stash.
I found 2 FQ bundles from one of the Houston Quilt Shows that I had not used and thought I'd try these fabrics.
I might change the red on white one that looks more brown in the photo.

Come join me in making this quilt.
The fabric requirements were put up today.

Digitizing software

I've come across 3 digitizing software programs that I tried before.
I don't want them around anymore, but don't know where I could possibly sell them.
Does anyone know someone that would like to buy them or where I could advertise them?
Embroidery Magic 2
Autodigitizing has the dongle and the CD with it.
Janome's Digitizer 10000 has the workbook, book and CD with it.

This is what happens when you start cleaning things out.
LOL

WITB

This kept falling over, so I guess it wanted to be empty
It is full
tossed it on the pressing table.
School supplies, name tag badges, cool tie items, Dad's radio, hardware, trash, tissue paper......
There was one piece of fabric that I put away.
This one to awhile, but they are all put away.
I have a pile of things that need to be gone through that will be broken into a number of days.
One day at a time.
One bag/box/pile at a time.

I am noticing a difference.
I seem to put things away quicker without thinking about it.
