Happenings

My friend Carol came over to quilt a couple of quilt.
A PInk Big Girl Quilt.
So much fun.
This is an amazing quilt.
I love the leaves she quilted on it.
I absolutely love the color scheme.
I finished the Disney bag.
I used the leftover pieces from the mug rug and lined it in red.
See the L in there?
That's the mug rug.
Quilted one of the two CIL.
I need to get batting sewn together.
That the last of a roll of batting.
I love these fall colors.

Fabric postcards

So, DD is thrilled with all the fabric postcards arriving in her mailbox.
I tried to post a photo on the postcard site, but yahoo is still not liking my photos.
She has them hanging on her wall.
Thank you all that have helped out a lonesome girl.

Learning Quilt A Long

I'm linking up to Andree's LQAL

My goal was to see if I liked using Terial Magic for a T-shirt Quilt
I didn't want to make a whole quilt with it, but to test the process to see if it would stabilize a little easier.
I made a pillow
I used an old band shirt that was leftover from other projects.
I knew this shirt had a lot of stretch to it, so that made it perfect for this process.

I sprayed it with the terial magic and had to wait for it to be almost dry to iron it dry.
It was no longer stretchy, so that was a good thing.
Then, I cut it like I would normally cut it and there was no stretch to it.
I added borders to see how it sewed.
It was like sewing a quilting cotton, just a little thicker.

What I learned was it was a little messy to work with.
It was easier than ironing on stabilizer.
It sewed together very nicely.

Conclusion is I will try it in a T-shirt quilt and even have one to try it on.

Progress

QOV #17 is quilted.
This is a T-shirt that I tried the new fabric stiffener on.
I now need to wash it and see how it responds.
It stitched without any stretching, so I like the way it worked.
This will be a pillow.
I might need to make the pillow form out of my stuff.
Chicken mug rug completed.
I think this uses up those chicken scraps.
This is an old UFO from a purse I made and had made too many strip sets.

Irish Stars

I love this pattern.
Even though it is taking me time, I'm also finishing other things too.
It is letting me use up my scraps and that is a good thing.
I am ready to make one that has browns in it to help with my brown scrap drawer.
Check out this post at Wedding Dress Blues to see some other ones.
They are all gorgeous!

QOV #16

I quickly quilted this QOV.
It's been picked up, so that is a good thing.
I have another to quilt today.
I need to work on the 2 CIL quilts and finish up other things.

Fall

I was making leaves.
Pulled out some crochet yarn and will send to DD in cards to brighten her Fall days.

Up early

DD was registering for classes and the start time was 0600.
I woke up before the alarm and called her to make sure she was going to be up.
She was concerned because she wanted certain teachers and didn't want to miss the opportunity.
She is now back asleep, having the schedule she wanted.
I'm still awake.  LOL
So, I emptied the bin I put pieces that I've used into.
This had not been put away for about 2 weeks, so I had lots in it.
Wish I'd taken a before photo.
I've prepped a couple things to sew when DH is awake.
Chicken Coasters from leftover bag pieces.
Not sure they are "nice" but it's an experiment with pieced parts.
I'm working on trying out the new fabric stabilizer by making a small pillow out of a T-shirt.

I also have the QOV I need to quilt today or tomorrow loaded.
Clean the machine and thread change and I'll be able to work on it.

Wish I knew where they came from so I could thank them.
These are beautiful.

Slow Day

Had some family help that was needed.
It meant I was gone all morning.
But, when I got in my studio, I had some paperwork to take care of and then did a few more blocks.
Another Star made and 2 more blocks.
That makes 52 out of 81 blocks done.
I really like this quilt.
Then, my Spring Jelly Roll center is done.
I had these "hearts" that I used some of the jelly roll strips for.
I decided I liked the idea of them on the corners, but they don't look like hearts.
So, I turned them to give a semi checkerboard look.
I'll be bordering it with Kona Black.
Then, it will be bound in the leftover strips.

I forgot to take a photo of the bobcat postcard that I made for one of Ashley's friends.

I have 3 appointments tomorrow, so I'm not sure what I will actually accomplish.

Butterbraids

My daughter's HS band is selling butterbraids.
If you don't know what a Butterbraid is, click the link above.
No, she is not in the High School anymore, but we help where we can.
If you are in the San Antonio area and would like to order, let me know and we can meet for the transfer of monies before the order is placed. :)
They are yummy.

Baby Clothing Quilt

I've always had a difficult time with this project.
I'm not sure why, because I use 2.5" squares all the time.
But, I do.
I've cut up all the fused baby clothing, so I have space on the cutting table.
Now, I'll need to fuse more.
I have my small group that I'm going to for a few hours on Saturday, so I should be able to fuse a bit more.
All the leftover pieces not big enough.
Not sure if I'm going to try and do something for the Mom with these or not.
My bag of squares that need to be sewn into pairs.

Making progress and that is what counts.

Design Wall

Check out the other design walls.
My Spring Jelly Roll UFO is coming along.
I have two more blocks to border and then to decide what else I'm going to do with it.

Two projects here.
The baby clothing quilt is still where it was.
The Irish Stars QAL has two stars and I love the effect.
I need to cut more stars so it is easier to put together and finish up 33 more 25 patches.

Irish Star Sampler

I had to make some stars.
I think I will really like this quilt.
It isn't for me, but i might just have to make one very scrappy for me.
This one is more controlled with blue, purple, green and white.
I'll be making blue, purple and green stars from my scrap drawers.
The stars are easy, but take a bit of time to cut the fabric.
Want to QAL with us, got to Wedding Dress Blues for the instructions.

Chicken pieces

Previously I had some strips left from a purse I made out of chicken fabrics.
I tried a lined bag pattern from patternpile.com
It was a good tutorial, but I needed to use a different size.
I also boxed the bag, which probably used too much of the size.
I like the way it is lined with the outside fabric at the top of the inside of the bag.
I think I could have put the casing a bit higher in the bag structure.
I still have a few leftover pieces that I could play with again.

I should claim this with Elm Street Quilts Bag It.
