Stash Report #5

   2022

quilt paint create links to all our stash reports.

I have finished cutting out the quilts I needed to be cut.

But, that being said, I didn't get much sewing done this week.

I quilted two charity quilts, but not fabric out this week.

The good news is I didn't add any fabric either.

From My Carolina Home is doing a challenge on how much we use each month

I seem to be doing more organizing than quilting, but I'm still doing something.
Small projects right now are what I can do.

Prairie Moon Studio Organizing Challenge

I worked on TAsk one of getting rid of something each day.

I ended up tossing paperwork and things I no longer needed.

But, it really happened in the closet and extra bedroom

I tossed out a number of purses and bags.

I went through the lingerie drawer.

My daughter is 22 and some of those things were in there before she was born.

I tossed items in the pantry.

I cleaned out the items in the extra bedroom that weren't wanted or needed.

I made a big dent in a number of places in the home, not just the studio.

Prairie Moon has her reorganizing challenge pick for Task two.

 "Clean out/Reorganize cabinet or closet"

I'm debating on what to focus on.

I think I am going to look at the two cabinets under the cutting table.

I'm not sure what is under there now.

I'm not sure if I need the items anymore.

This side has towels, T-shirt and who knows what else.
It's time to figure it out.
this side has purse-making items, HST storage, and ????
I need to decide if I want it or not.

Stash Report #4

  2022

quilt paint create links to all our stash reports.

I did a lot of reorganizing and moving things around.

I also did lots of cleaning because both daughter and husband got COVID.

I did lots more deep cleaning than normal.

But, I made time to do some sewing.

Aren't they cute?
They are an old UFO with hearts.
All the strips are from the pink, red, and white scrap drawer.
The batting is scrap batting too.

Sunday Quilting

I spent most of the day quilting.
I finished this small charity quilt.
I made all different flowers on this quilt.
Some I really like and some not so much.
It was fun playing around.

I also picked fabric for another project I can't' show.

My prairie moon challenge to get rid of one thing a day has been going well.
I found some paper that needed to be tossed.

Karen's challenge had us looking at kits today.
I don't have many, but they are contained in one area.
I didn't find any I was ready to get rid of yet.
If I pull one out and it doesn't speak to me then I'll toss it.
Since they are not overflowing, and they are in the space I want, I'm happy.

Well, I didn't get this posted and life has changed.
DD tested positive for COVID.
She was home all weekend, so we have been exposed.
We were tested yesterday and will find out in 24-36 hours.
I'm not showing symptoms, but DH is.
So, the household is in quarantine and I've been cleaning more than sewing.
DD and I were cooking on Saturday and Sunday, so I felt I needed to do a deep clean.
You know how that goes.
Once you start a deep clean, you find other places which need more cleaning and so it goes.

TQPM Pattern

I test for The Quilt Pattern Magazine (TQPM)

They are publishing one of the patterns I tested for them.

The Bow Tie Table Runner

This was a fun pattern to make.

Decluttering

Decluttering takes time
I have lots of threads.
The embroidery machine takes thread, the sewing machine takes thread, the long arm takes thread.
Most of mine is in drawers.
I keep them fairly neat.
I'm happy with my storage of them and where they are stored, so not much went on with my thread.
I did find these metallic threads that the new machine hates.
Out they go.
Those hair thingies were around bobbins.
I didn't use the bobbins because I couldn't see the thread color.
So, the bobbins are in a clear tube so I'll use them.
The hair thingies go away.
I didn't realize I had so many rotary blades.
They were overpowering this drawer because of their packaging.
I have plenty of 45mm blades.
Some smaller ones that don't get used often, but I have them.
Then, the 60 mm blades are a few, but I rarely use them either.
There are times when I need larger or smaller blades.
All my blades are in the little spice drawer and I'm good with the room they are taking.
This drawer in my cutting table is full.
I love having extra items in this area for when I need something different.
The rotary cutters and scissors are needed.
They all fit in this allotted space, so I'm OK with it.
But, I found these scissors, seam rippers, rotary cutters that I'll never use.
Out they go.
I am donating them to a QOV group that might get some use out of them.
I need to continue with decluttering, but life has a bad habit of getting in the way.
So, I'll follow along with the challenges.
Yesterday was UFOs.
I have always gone through my UFOs at the end of the year and decided if I wanted to keep them or not.
I'm good with having lots of UFOs, as long as I make something from them, not necessarily what they start out to be, and use or donate the finished item.
If during the year I find I don't want to continue with one of my UFOs, then I pass it on or put it back in my stash.
I don't have many kits, but the ones I have I want to make.
What gets in my way of making them?
Now, it is energy.
I don't understand why since May when I had COVID why I am still so weak and tire so easily.
But, I'm thankful for what I can do and I will continue to improve.
I know I want to go through the magazines and binders to see what I can part with.
But, I need someone to help me climb to get to some of them.
That day will come along and I'll be happy to go through things.

The bed bench test pattern was 100% scraps.
I also used a crumb fabric I made from 100% scraps for the backing.

Prairie Moon Decluttering Challenge

So, each year Shelly does a monthly decluttering challenge.

For January it is

Get rid of at least one thing a day

I was on a Zoom meeting and didn't have much input until it was part.
I ended up filing things or piling things to be filed when we were done.
I went through a bag and filed most of the 2020 stuff I had stuffed in the bag.
I got rid of a trashcan full of paper.
I know I can get rid of something every day in that bag of "stuff", so that is where I'll work mostly.
The other things I got rid of this morning were shoes and socks.
I'm ahead of the game. LOL
