QOV#1 quilted

QOV #1 is quilted.
I did waves in the white and a meander around the flags.
Then I meandered with stars around the border.
I didn't quilt the blue or red, so they pop a little.

Prairie Moon Creativity Challenge

Color with crayons!

So, I finished my mug rug and now the challenge is color with crayons.
I just sorted all the crayons out of the box of writing utensils.
I have way too many pens.
No more buying of pens!!!

I'll have to take some time and color this afternoon.

DONE (Wednesday)1.    Tidings
2.    QOV
3.    Band T-shirt quilt
4.    QOV
5.    Lana’s Brown quilt
6.    Samm’s Modern Quilt

Looks like with everything else, I'll be working on one quilt a day.
I'll take that rate right now with taxes going on.

Tidings is quilted

I have quilted the Tidings Quilt.
Now to apply the binding and get the binding sewn down.
I doubt that will be done tomorrow, but I can work on it.

Stashbuster UFO #s

the numbers this month are:

#11 Batik & Black QST
There aren't many done.
I wonder if I have other black and bright blocks done that I could use with it.

#16 Bright Pinwheels
I must have had a plan since all the fabric is here, but no instructions.
There are so many pinwheel patterns that I could use.

First, I am so close to completion on previous UFOs that I might work on them first.

Lana's 30's quilt

Finished the loops on the quilt for Lana.
She did an wonderful job on this quilt.
Love all the colors.

Sunkissed

I finished the binding this morning.
I do not like the leaves.
Maybe I can outline them in a dark green at a later time.
I am counting it done now.

Prairie Moon Organization challenge

I did OK with the cutting table last week.
It gets to be a mess when I'm using it, but I do keep it clean.

Choose something YOU want to organize

Well, I think this has to be paper.
I have so much laying around.
Found another container and it is partially sorted and I have paperwork from 2004. :(
I will keep working on filing and shredding papers.

Design Wall Monday

Jo's brown and teal needs the frames around the teal centers.
I have one setting triangle to sew together and then to trim and figure out the corners.

Test Quilt

I finished the binding on the test quilt while DD was horseback riding.
It was a beautiful day and my hand was nice to me.
I'll show the photo of the finished quilt when they publish the pattern.

Dolphin Pillow

My dolphin pillow is done.
I quilted it on the long arm.
This is the stashbuster UFO #4 for March.

Binding is on

I put the binding on the sunkissed table runner.
DD has wisdom teeth out on Monday, so I'll use that time to do the binding.
I am still binding the test quilt, so that should be done soon too.

Something done

I am going to use that one fabric as center squares and then border in browns.
This pillow was started with one of the borders on.
Who knows what I was going to do.
I decided to use a 16" pillow form I have.
Quilt it on the long arm (it's loaded and ready to go)
create a pocket for the pillow with a design lip on the pillow.
Dazzle pieces are almost all sewn together.
That is, with the exception of the corners.
I'm not sure how I am going to do them yet, but the flying geese were from the container of all these pieces.
Next step will be to square them all up to the same sizes.
This is a wonky quilt, but is nearly to the top stage.

I also cut the binding for sunkissed table runner.

Creativity Challenge

I've wanted to do this pattern, but didn't have a reason.
So, I made a mug rug out of it.
I reduced the size of the pieces and added an extra row.
It's 10 inches and I decided to birth it instead of needing binding.
It was fun to do something unexpected today.
I used bonus HST, so does that count towards the UFOs?

Sunkissed quilted

It is quilted.
I could load and get it done quickly, so I did.
I have a 30's quilt ready to load.
Backing material was barely enough for the project, but with a bit of seaming, it fits.
That is the next to be loaded.
Yes, I am starting before the marathon, but I feel like it, so I had better for for it.
Tuesday will be the official start, and I still have 6 others that need quilting.
I have 3 actively being worked on, so there could be more.
Yikes, I hope I can get caught up on these.

Prairie Moon Creativity Challenge

Make a mini quilt

I've not been really good at these challenges, even though I wanted to.
But, I have a design that I wanted to try.
It was using 2" HST, but if I'm going to keep under 10", I'll need to use 1" HST.
Let's see if I can make that happen.

Thirty one party

I have a friend that is selling thirty one and I'm trying to help her out.
If you like the product and would like to order from my catalog/on-line party, this is the link.

Quilty Fun

I did the chunky chevrons tonight.
I think this is going to be a fun sampler to put together.
I can't wait for another set that has the white background.
That will be the deciding point of if I need to remake them.

test quilt is quilted!!!

I'm excited, but I can't show you a photo.
The last test quilt I did is now quilted!
I have the binding already done and ready to be sewn on.
That means I only need to trim and I can sew it on.
It's black binding, so I don't think I'll start it tonight.
It feels good to get the next step done.

Prairie Moon Organization challenge.

last week was to organize your thread, and I got that one done!
All my thread is pretty.
I blogged about it here.

This week, the challenge is to clean off your cutting table.
This is probably the one spot that keeps fairly clean.

I have my cup of water that I need to be drinking more of.

I could put the applique container elsewhere, but would like to fill it to keep in the car.

The teal and brown fabrics are for my Jo's quilt, but I am moving it to the pressing table.

The other pile of fabric needed to be cut for the Quilty Fun Sampler I'm doing with Sampler Society.

The neon green basket is the pressed bonus HST that I need to cut into the largest size possible and sort.

I have some other fabrics waiting to be used in the purple container.

I have my rulers in place.

I'll do a little clean up here.

Jo's Club

These blocks are from a Jo Morton class.
I had trouble with some of the sizing, and was going to make it a king sized.
I don't want to do that anymore, so I'll use what I have and need to figure out a setting block or fabric.

Sunday, March 20, 2016

Sunkissed table runner

The applique and piecing are done.
I need to get the current quilt off the long arm so I can load this and get it quilted.

When I do the second one, I'll substitute something for the leaf fabric.
I think they are too light.
It will make a nice gift, so that is what counts.

Cleaning/organizing

Prairie Moon has an organization challenge.
We did it last year and it lasted most of that.
But, when you use it, things tend to move around.
First, my embroidery thread was a mess.
Main drawer arranged by color
Another type of thread that I have in a 4 drawer stand stays fairly nice.
This is packed in, so everything has a place and can go back in nice and neat.

The next type of thread is my long arm thread
This thread is not liked by my machine, so I need to either figure out how to use it or pass it on.
White drawer
Overflow of white thread and variegated threads.
Purple, Gray and black.
Pink
Red
Blue
Green
Brown, Yellow, and Coral.

Next is my sewing machine thread.
Lots of colors, no easy way to keep neat, and not used all that often.

On national quilting day, I thought I'd clean up something too.

Happy Quilting Day

I made the egg table runner.
I am quilting the test quilt.
Can't say I like how long it is taking me, but I am getting to it, so that is a good thing.
I finished the applique on another table runner, but want to use the long arm to quilt it.
Spent the morning at a girl scout event at the Pearl Farmer's market, downtown San Antonio.
The girls and Moms all had a great time.
It was chilly and windy, but what fun.

Easter Egg table runner

Within my strings, I found this started.
It wasn't exactly an Easter egg, but it was plain strips that looked like Easter egg colors.
So, I made this for my Mom's room

Prairie Moon Creativity Challenge

Add more doodling to the beginning doodle, or add color to it

Well, I am not doing great at this challenge.
I love to see what others are doing, but I'm failing miserably at getting them done
My daughter has been doing them, which is fun.
I've doodled, but not on things that don't have other things on them.  LOL
Oh well.
I'll try a bit more.

Band T-shirt quilt top

Finally focused long enough to get the last border on the T-shirt quilt.
I hope it is likes and others will want to bid on it.
Now to finish quilting my test quilt and get this one on the machine to quilt.
Would love to have it out of my house by the end of the month.

Prairie Moon Procrastination Challenge

Organize your thread
 Domestic sewing machine thread
 Embroidery Machine Thread
Long arm thread.
The top 3 drawers are still fairly neat.

Good challenge.

Spring Break

It's spring break.
What does that mean?
No schedule, but lots of appointments.
Wish we had planned to go somewhere.
Thursday afternoon and Friday are free, maybe we can go and do something fun.
Maybe we shoujld go on a bluebonnet hunt.
Image result for bluebonnets
They are blooming already and there are lots of them.
So beautiful.

quilty fun and pillows

DD stuffed a lot more pillow.
Still more to go.
I found more scraps, so that is great.
The flying geese for Quilty Fun are done.
Not sure about the white background, but I'm sure I'll figure out how to incorporate them.
