Judy is having us do the check in again this year. Accountability is a good thing!

This was a slow week. I worked on some birthday blocks and got them mailed off.
I started working on my DH's quilt. I have the pieces for the blue hst done, and most of the red pieces done. I'll need more than 85 of the red and blue 9-patches. I also need 25 friendship stars. Some blue and some red. Then, I can work this into a top.

Thursday

What a week this has been. DD has the flu -- maybe the swine flu. She has been running a high temp and feeling bad, so she wants Mom right next to her. Today was a day she is beginning to feel lots better and I got to quilt.
I finished quilting the QOV #76. This is one I've had for a few days. I love red white and blue.
Here is my summer solstice package that is being sent tomorrow. I love these swaps. It is so much fun to get things in the mail. I had fun with this one.
I did start working on DH's 9-patch quilt, but my motivation is not all that good right now. I only have until the 21st to get it done. So, I'd better get busy. I have my sewing group this weekend, so maybe that is the only thing I work on and I can get some more done on it?

Pay it Forward

I've played Pay it Forward before and loved the little gifty Kim made me.

Kim was needing some more to join hers so of course I did.

Now I need 3 people to join mine.

The rules are as follows:( I copied them from Kim's blog):

I must make and send a handmade item to the three people who join my PIF within 365 days;
In turn, the three people who join my PIF must also host their own PIF and ask three people to join and on and on;
There are no set times other than the gift must be made and sent within 365 days of hosting your PIF.
If you're interested in joining in, please tell me in a comment that you would like to join my PIF.

Judy is having us do the check in again this year. Accountability is a good thing!

This was a completion week for me. I finished another UFO that was given as a teacher quilt. This was a collection of cross blocks that didn't work for a swap. It was fun to make and quick. I needed quick because I didn't decide to do this until late.

Next was a baby quilt for a teacher. I had this Eric Carle fabric and this is what happened. As it turned out, she had her baby a month early, so DD didn't get to deliver it to her.

Then, I have been making these cute notepad holders and needed one for the music teacher. DD wanted it red and orange, so this is what I did.

I'm not finished with the Texas quilt yet, but I like the way it is turning out. I'm still working on the size of star that I need. I'm thinking I need to use a full yard of fabric to get what I want.

I'm worn out with all I've done in the last 2 weeks, so I took the time to lay with DD while she was ill this weekend. Not much else going on here.

2 bindings completed

I finished the cross quilt binding for DD's speech teacher. We can deliver it tomorrow -- the last day of school.
I also finished the baby quilt binding while watching DD do her horseback lesson. She had fun and I got them both done. My hands hurt and it was hot, but they are finished. Both are washed and ready to deliver tomorrow.

I needed one more gift for the Music teacher, so a notebook it was. DD wanted orange and red. So, this is what I found.

Cross quilt

Finished the quilting on the cross quilt. Now I need to do the label and bind it. Will it get done by Thursday? We shall see.

The baby quilt is ready to load. Oops, not really, I need to find a backing for it, and then I can load it. Baby quilts don't take long to quilt, so I should be able to get done tomorrow.

two tops done

Well, I decided I wanted to work on these 2 tops tonight. I used them each as leader enders and they were completed together. It worked out perfectly.

This is the Texas quilt I've been working on and it is now in a top form.

I had already cut out the star and it is just pinned on. I think I want to try and make another one that is a bit larger. I think I have to use a full yard of fabric to get it larger. I'm not real good at calculating the piece of fabric starting size. But, the directions for cutting a 5 pointed star works really well.
I decided I needed a quick wedding quilt, and found these blocks done in the UFO cabinet. I'd put the cross fabric in with the blocks, so I was lucky. I decided to arrange them in the cross format and will be quilting feathered hearts in the peach part. I will bind it in green. Might even get this one done this week. That would be good.
It feels good to be making progress. I've not bought anything in a few weeks. YES!!!
