It's a fun one.  :)

Folded Christmas ornaments

I cut circles out last night.
This morning I sewed the circles together, turned them and then top stitched them.
I took them with us on the way to the gym and got 8 ready for the hanging piece.
That is exciting for me.
I think I could make lots of these.
I have another pillow ready to quilt and put together, but I'd have to change thread, so I'll wait.

So, I needed to feel like I was making progress on my list, so I modified it for the number of pillows I need and 100 coasters/ornaments.  I can mark them off as I make them, so that is exciting for me.

I made one Christmas ornament out of fabric.

It's been a good day.

Pillows

I have 11 pillows to make for gifts
The colors are not true to the project, but these are swap blocks for who knows how long ago.
I think this one might just need to have an ornament or something attached to it.
I made the tree off center, which is very difficult for me to do.  LOL

9 more to go.

The scrappy binding in on, and I didn't have to make any more than the leftover pieces I had.

Rudy in his glory.
This is a table runner that has been in the works for a few days.
I'm not really happy with him, but it is done and done is good.

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

For those not celebrating Thanksgiving, hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

Bright and Black is loaded

It's loaded.  I don't know what color thread I'm going to use yet, or what design, but it is loaded and ready to quilt.

We went through the UFO cabinet and oh boy, I think my list is wrong.
So, I am updating it and will have the more accurate list for 2015.
It has more items on it than I knew. :(

Warm & Spicy

the quilt

One table runner

One table runner

IT feels good.

Making prgress

I am working away to get some of my list done.

1. Sew backings together for 2 quilts (DONE)
1A -- piece batting for black and bright quilt (DONE)
2. Quilt Bright and Black
3. 11 Christmas pillows for teachers
4. pink UFO
5. baby quilt
6. As many coasters as I can make
7. Christmas Sampler
8. Quilt testing quilt

I realized that I needed batting for the quilt to be able to quilt it, so I went ahead and pieced the leftover batting.  It is bigger than I need, so that is a good thing.  That means this will be 100% from stash.  No buys.  Woo Hoo!

To Do

So, I'm making progress, and the listing comes into play.  I know it helps me, but it seems to be never ending.  I think about what I have going and what I'd like to do and it becomes too much, so I make a list.  I think this is the order I need to work on things:

1. Sew backings together for 2 quilts
2. Quilt Bright and Black
3. 11 Christmas pillows for teachers
4. pink UFO
5. baby quilt
6. As many coasters as I can make
7. Christmas Sampler
8. Quilt testing quilt

Of course, there is the holiday meals, Girl Scouts, Equessence, and Band to throw into the mix.  But, I would rather be quilting.  LOL

Christmas Quilt

These are all but one block for the Sampler Society Christmas Quilt.
I need to make the candle.
I found more of the pinwheel pieces, so that was fun.
I also have a possible block to make using some of the pinwheels.
I'm not sure how I'll set it, but this is a start.

Last Sampler Society UFO top done

So, I really like the border on this.
These blocks have been around for years.
My Sampler Society group had us pick 6 that we wanted to complete this year.
This was one that I pulled out.
It is actually two UFOs.
The blocks and the four patches.
I still have some four patches left, but the blocks are all used.
I should have something in stash that will work for the backing, so I might even get this one loaded and start the quilting this week.
I do think Bright and Black is my favorite combination.

Beautiful day today

What a difference a day makes.
It is a beautiful day outside, but I'm enjoying my quilting time.
DD is still asleep, and she has been feeling bad, so I'm letting her sleep in today.

Working on the Black and Bright UFO

I decided to put the random strips of bright in the border with black on either side.
I like the result.
I have 3 more sides of the final black border and it will be ready to quilt.
It feels good to quilt.

Stash Report

Added Year to Date             - 73.50

So, I've not finished anything this month, but I have 3 small items almost ready to be done.
The quilt is a small lap quilt and the other two are table runners.
It is fun to be close to using some fabrics.
I am working on another UFO today too, so maybe next week will be wonderful.
Go check out the other stashbusting being done.

Another table runner

Another table runner from the leftover blocks.

Warm & Spicy quilted

So, I quilted the warm and spicy quilt and had room to quilt one of the table runners from it.
It is densely quilted because I had some spots that we not exactly even.
DD says I should bind it in orange.
I'm not sure about that yet.
I think the table runner will get a brown binding, but I don't have enough of that leftover to do the quilt.

Quilting cancelled

Woke up to LOTS of rain this morning.
This is the sky from my studio.
It's warm, we need the rain, but the clubhouse has water in it and we can't quilt.
Oh well, on to Plan B.
I'll load the Warm & Spicy and get it quilted today.
This afternoon I have to go out in this to a board meeting.

Lana's quilt

This is the huge quilt I was quilting for Lana.
It is quilted in leaf pattern and loops.
This quilt is one I was testing about this time last year.  I had a hard time finishing the top because I was working on it when Dad passed away.  I had a couple more blocks that needed to be made, and I just couldn't do it.  So, Carol said "You don't have to do it exactly like the pattern"  She helped me figure out how to put it together with the blocks made.  I made some table runners with the extra blocks.  It isn't just like the pattern, but the top is together and maybe I can get it loaded and quilted and it find a nice home to go to.   It's been difficult to work on this one.

Long arming

This quilt is Lana's huge quilt that has a different corner format.
It took a long time to figure out how to do it, but now I have it.
I'm quilting leaves and loops.
I'm making progress, so that is wonderful.

Friday block done

I love the way this bow turned out.
I might have to make more of these.

The blocks from the Christmas Sampler from Sampler Society.
One more block to be made and then I have fun deciding if I'm making more and how I'm putting them all together.

I've also worked on the testing quilt for TQPM.
I need to get it done this week, so I'm happy to say I'm very close.

Quilting day

My friend Carol is making me cut up baby clothes.
she is doing me a favor, but I don't like the boredom of doing this.
Bag on the left is the extra pieces that won't go into a 2.5" piece.
Bag on the right is the squares I cut today.

After putting all the pieces in the bag, this is how much I have so far.
I have two bags left to cut on the boy's baby clothing.
Soon I will be able to just sit and sew them all together and make a lovely memory quilt.
Then I'll start on the girl's quilt.
It just takes time to stabilize and then try and cut out as many pieces as I can get from a piece of clothing.
If we keep meeting at Carol's house, I will soon have this cut out.

Working away

So, I have been working on a quilt I'm testing for TQPM and I can't show you.  But, it has Y seams in it and this was posted on another group, so I wanted to share the you tube on Y seams.

I love this way of doing them.

I'm off to quilting with Carol and working on this baby quilt where I'm cutting 2.5" squares from baby clothing.  I don't know when it will be done, but these weekly events have been helping me make progress.

Next sampler society block

They are so cute.  I'll have to play with a design

I did work on the testing quilt, which I can't show you.  Hope to get the top put together today.

Sampler Society blocks

This block was for week before last.  I didn't get it done with the crazy schedule we had.
This one came out on Friday,
It's a rainy day, so I'm inside and not running around.

So, here are the 6 blocks we have made, and I have 2 waste triangle pinwheels up there.
I know I have another set somewhere.

Cutting and more cutting

Well, I don't have a photo, but I spent the day stabilizing and cutting the baby clothing into 2.5" squares, again.  This is a never ending project and when I get this quilt done, I will have another one to do the same thing on. LOL
Carol and I are getting together to focus each other on our craft.  Seems to be working, because if I were home, I would never had made it through the 3 hours that I cut.
I am making progress.  I should take time and sew some of them together and see how it is looking. I have some variety now, so that is good.  I still have more than two of the reusable grocery bags full of clothing to cut for the boy quilt.  What a project, but I think it will be fun when it gets done.  I also have a HUGE bin of girl clothing to work on,
They are taking up my walk way in between my cutting table and big board.  I won't know what to do when they are not there anymore. :)

We are having a rain storm tonight.  Hope it stays steady so we can get some good coverage and the water storage can be positively impacted.

I need to get photos of the towels I made for DD's teachers.  Now to get her to put something together when she gives them to the teachers.

I am almost as busy as ever, but the competition season for band is over, so that is going to be helpful.

As I'm in my room more, I want to straighten it up.  These are my scraps.  I have no idea how to get this to turn and stay turned.  But, I had fabric all hanging out and it was a mess.
I worked on it a bit and it looks a little better.  I wonder how many scrap quilts are in that wall of scraps?  I know I've made many a quilt and this never seems to go down.  It is time to focus and use some of them up.

I am making something for bandcoming.  It is on the 14th, so I'd better figure out what I'm doing fairly soon.  LOL

Hope your November is fabulous and gives you lots of be thankful for!
