Red Hat at Fancy That

We had our red hat get together today. What a fun group of ladies.

Well, look what I did this morning. I didn't get to sew much, but I made a thread catcher. Isn't it cute?

Help, please

OK, here is the quilt I need to do. I have 2 more. The next one that I got batting for, well, I need a larger batting. it is 96 x 116. I got 110 x 110. :( So, off to get a different size of batting for it.

Now, the final quilt that I don't know what to do with is this one. It measures 72 x 108. Not a normal size and I would like some suggestions. Someone suggested cutting it in half and making 2 lap quilts out of it to give to the homeless shelter. I'd love to get some ideas on how to quilt it, color of thread, patterns, should I leave it the way it is? Anything goes. I'm just looking for suggestions right now.

While I wait to get bigger batting and figure out this quilt, I'll be putting the binding on the wedding quilt and doing some piecing. I really would like to get these 2 quilted and be 100% done without any quilt tops remaining (at least for a short time).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Feathered STar is done

My feathered Star!

I started this with Kimba. She seems to challenge me into doing things outside of my comfort zone. I like the pattern, but I'm not sure I'd make lots more of them.

This will hang in my extra bedroom. I still don't have the quilt made for that room, but will get it done soon. I'm doing the Stashbuster Burger Queen Mystery in blues and yellows, so we shall see if the bed quilt becomes that or the one I got started with the churn dashes. I'm not thrilled with the way it is coming out, so it has stayed another UFO for awhile.

Diamond Cross Quilted

This quilt is going to a couple that are both in the military. It was a QOV mystery, and I'm going to use it for these 2 soldiers. I'm not thrilled with my flowers, but then again, it will look different when washed. (the photo would be better if I had remembered to turn the flash back on. LOL

I have my feathered start to bind, and then this will be next.

We are about ready to go to Karate and I'll work on the binding for the feathered star then. I might get it done tonight, who knows.

Pincushions

I finished the pincushions I needed for a swap. I had to take a break from thread breaking. So, I made the rest of the pincushions. I think I'd make some adjustments on future ones, but they were easy to make.

This sunset is from last night. We were in my sewing room and DD and I saw the sky turn this wonderful shade. DD amazes me, after 2 years, she still remembers the Art teacher and her death. The way we got through that rough time was to tell her that Mrs Rappmond painted sunrises and sunsets for us. To this day, when there is an especially beautiful one, she asks if Mrs Rappmond was painting it for us to see. This was taken out my sewing room window, through the glass. So, not great, but you get the idea.

JoAnn's rail fence done

The yellow and green rail fence is quilted. Well, this was more of an effort than it needed to be. When I loaded and rolled the quilt, the backing was not long enough. It was very short to begin with, but I had hoped it would be OK. Well, I was wrong. So, I had to unload it, cut off some of the sides and piece to the bottom. It turned out OK, but with VERY little leftover.

Now, here is her next quilt. I am at a loss on how to quilt it. Any suggestions? The backing has leaves on it.

So, while I wait for inspiration, I'm going to go on and quilt another quilt.

I have just finished making binding for the QWLs and that box is taped and ready to mail tomorrow. Yea!!!!

I put the binding on by machine on the Feathered Star -- now to finish it by hand as I have the time, probably at Karate tomorrow night.
