Design Wall Monday 3/31/2025

  Design Wall Monday

My design walls have not changed much over March.

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

This is the quilt I lost two pieces.
I recut them and am in the process of sewing them to the next-to-last row.
I will then sew the last two rows together.
I have decided I want to do a piano key outer border, but I'll cut that as I go with leftover pieces from the other quilts.

You can see the Tula 100 blocks at the top.
I am behind by about two weeks.

To the left are blocks for a simple QOV.
I need to find a sashing and cornerstone fabric to make this.

To the right is my Eric Carle Hungry Little Caterpillar UFO.
I've been using those pieces as leader/ender pieces, so it is going slow, but I'm making progress.

End of March To-do-list update

I have some things I must finish in 2025

1. Donna's Memory Quilts (4)

I have 4 of these to make, but I have one about ready to go.

I have 3 more rows to sew together.
I lost two pieces during the window replacement.
I have yet to find them, so I cut two more and this should be to top format soon.

2. Lillian's Memory Bears (10)

I have one started.

3. Ashley High School Graduation Quilt

This quilt is VERY overdue.

I'm sure I'll add to the list during the year, but I'll stop right here.

At least one Stashbuster UFO a month (1/8) 13%

January #36 Thru Grandmothers Window

(This is all applique, so it won't be done in January)

February #6 Wowza

I won't be able to show this because it is a test quilt that I had trouble with.

February #21 Wedding Quilt

I don't like the design of this quilt, so it will be a challenge.

March #9 Wool Poinsettia Ornaments

I'm working on the ornaments in the evenings.

This is a Charlotte Angotti Mystery from years ago.
It still needs to be quilted
March #43 The Continental

April #3 YoYos
This is an ongoing project.

April #39 Thread Catchers
I know I can get what is already cut out done, but I'd like to make many more of these, so I don't see them getting done this month.

Completed Stashbuster UFOs (13%)

January #10 Wolf Postcard Wall Hanging

  All People Quilt UFOs

At least 50% (0/4) 0%

I've not been great at accomplishing these.

I didn't do a great job of picking what I could finish.:(

January #4 Shelf Curtain

I have three more columns to finish the Bright Rainbow center.

February #7 Bright Rainbow Quilt

This one might be easy to finish

I am sewing on this one with a friend.

The top should be finished today.

March #2 Donna's Memory Quilt

April #1 Lillian Bears

May #9 Gingerbread Wishes

June #10 Hungry Little Caterpillar

I've been using it as a leader/ender.

It should be done soon.

July #5 Oasis Cover

November #3 Wowza

December #11 Jo's Retreat Teal & Brown

It is a new project, and I have a few more to finish from the sample steps I made for class.

I had one bad day this week and didn't sew at all.

Look at the top of my design wall, and you will see my Tula 100 Block Challenge Blocks.
I am using scraps from my floral drawer as the focus fabrics.
I decided to use green to help coordinate the blocks since my florals are very different.

Prairie Moon Studio Organization

Praire Moon has a monthly studio organization task.

Last month it was magazines and books.

I've been doing reasonably well in this category, but not much was changed in the studio.

But, for April, it is

Choose your own task

Since we had the windows installed, I've still not been able to make my studio workable.
I can sew, but it isn't with everything in the one room.
So, hopefully, in April, I will have my studio back to "normal".
Windows are in, but need to be caulked better.
Carpet is cleaned.

All the things on the long arm need to be moved back in place.
My carpet is old, but it looks so much better.
I'm so thankful for my son and daughter for cleaning it for me.

I did sew every day this week, even with all the chaos.

They replaced our windows in one day, but they must return, so I can't put things away.
So, what do I do?
I make a bigger mess of my studio.

I asked my kiddos to steam clean the carpet.
I now know we do need to replace the carpet in my studio.
It is 20+ years old, and it needs help.
It is so much cleaner than before.
I'm blessed with wonderful kiddos.

We are replacing windows, so any sewing will probably be hand-sewing for the next week or so.
