Procrastination Challenge complete

Our challenge this week was to clean out a drawer.
My almost empty drawer.
But everything is on the desk by my sewing machine.
My cleaned out drawer that everything alike is in baggies or boxes.
The desk is empty too.
Everything put away.

Design Wall

This is something new on my design wall.
My Mom is in a nursing home and I thought a mini wall hanging on her door might make her happy.
I need to get the snowman adjusted some, forgot the nose.
Was going to do little buttons or french knots for the face and buttons.
I am thinking of writing JOY in the upper right (It's my Mom's name).
This is going to be my December Lovely Year of Finishes.
Maybe I'll get it done.
I'm tired of it being on the secondary design wall.

red, white and black

Red, White and Black is ready to quilt.
Black and White backing with a little red in it and a red binding.
This will be done this week.

Chalk bag

DD is working on her school wall.
We have stuff all over the place
So, the extra chalk needed a home.
Why not make a bag for it?
Chalk bag that you can't see the fabric design.
It is the music fabric from Oh Henry.

zippered bags

Another one done.
I do not like making these, think that might be why they are UFOs?

Horse panel pillow

Well, I had an interesting process to this.
The material that was in the bag with it and the pieces did not go with the print at all.
Why were they in there?????
So, I pulled some scraps to border the print and one from the stash to make the backing.
I want to quilt this on the long arm, so I will hold it until I have an opening.

Prairie Moon Challenge

This week's challenge is:

Clean out a drawer

I will pick the drawer below the one I did the last time.
It is a mismatch of everything in there.
Time to figure out what I need and what I don't

Red, Black and White Top finished

I used most of the pieces in my red, black and white bag.
I still have some squares that were cut, but they can go into the pre-cut drawers.
Not sure what I'm going to back it with, but the binding will be in red.

Red Black White update

OK, I decided I did not want to set it on point.
I am trying to use up my extra pieces that I have sitting around.
I went into the red scrap bin for the sashing.
I see three spots open, but they are now filled.
Amazing what a camera will do for seeing those things.
Now to sew them together and see what is next

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope you have a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving Day in the US.
For those not celebrating, hope you have a fabulous day!

Finishes

9 patch flower garden is bound.
Went to dinner and had it done on the trip.
I've been needing to make a table cloth for my table.
I can't find a 76" square table cloth.
So, I got a wide back and made one.
Just in time for Christmas.

Small Floral Quilting done

Finished up the floral quilting on the small floral quilt. Now to bind and have it ready for Mom's birthday.

Design Wall

My design wall changed a little.
 I finished this little one.
I decided it is a good size for a wheel chair quilt and with the weather turning colder, it is a good Birthday gift for Mom.
I started sewing together the pieced blocks and didn't like the way it was working, so changed it up a bit.
I have a plan and hope it goes together well.
This one has not been touched, but hope to get to it soon.

Stashbuster Random Number generator

I forgot to check the numbers this month.
#5 is the Applique Pixie Garden
There are a number of the patterns in here to decide what to do.
I'll have to review it more to determine how many I'll work on or if the project changes.

#65 is the Horse Panel pillow.
This is not what i expected.
There are pieces cut, but nothing really put together.
I imagine this will go together fairly quickly.
The only sized pillow I have is 18".
I'll have to add fabric to this UFO.

Small quilt

This is a tiny quilt.
I was going to try and make it larger, but decided to just leave it be.
I'll quilt it up and add a scrappy binding and donate it to the Autumn Winds Bazaar.
They are having it the Friday after Thanksgiving and it funds the activities program.
I'll quilt it this afternoon after we get back from lunch.

9 patches are done

These are two UFOs I've had around a long time.
I have 6" blocks leftovers.
I had 9 patch leftovers.
I like the results.

Praire Moon organization challenge

Put away stray fabric/organize a fabric bin

Funny, this is what I've been doing this morning.
All the bags of fabric scraps have been sorted.
Strings are with strings.
I need to make some string blocks
Larger pieces are in a bag to donate to a group of church ladies.
All the snips are in a bag ready for dog beds or pillow forms.

I think I need to not just organize my bins, I need to use from them.
Seems the UFO focus has me making more scrap bins.
I do have a string block UFO, so I should get it out and see what else needs done with it.

My main fabric stash stays fairly organized.
I tend to fix problems in the cabinets quicker than around the room.

My list making continues.
I have my main list of quilts to do.
I have my list of daily things to do.
I have things to clean up for the boosters.
I have too many lists and too many things that I want done.
But, it feels so good to actually take something off the list!

More donations

So, two ladies gave bags for dog beds.
i don't think their idea of what goes into dog beds and mine are the same.
This is one of the bags
This is my string bin before
This is my string bin after.
Large pieces from the bag, including blue jeans
Batting from the bag.
After going through more, additional large pieces and more batting.
I don't even know how to estimate how much is here.
Some of it will go to Tammy's quilting ladies.
I still have one small bag to go through.

Fabric

I received two bags of fabric from Judy.
This is the bag she said didn't have any usable pieces in.
One piece is width of fabric by 5+ inches.
The rest are strings for my string blocks.
I still need to go through the second larger bag.

Then, 2 bags showed up mysteriously on my doorstep.
I don't know where they came from, but it is T-shirt pieces from a T-shirt quilt.
Good pieces, but I don't have lots of use for.

Progress

First day of homeschooling.
Started off with a rough start, but we moved forward and made progress.
DD said that it was not as bad as she thought it would be.
She was happy to be working away.
I was in the room, but I was quilting away.
I started sewing together the floral quilt.
I quilted another 9 patch quilt.
That leaves one more to quilt of those I did in July.
Happiness.
Now to get the binding sewn down on both of them.
As the leader/ender project, I'm working on the baby clothing.
I'm hoping to get into the organization mode in my studio.

Design Wall

My design walls have been the same for a long time.
Not really great photos.
Harley quilt for my DH.
As I look at it, I need to make it larger.

I've started to sew the one on the left together.
It is going to be different from the pattern.
We decided to just sew them together and not worry about the pattern.
It will be small like a doll quilt, maybe a baby quilt.
The one on the right is one that needs some design help.
I'm going to start getting the blocks together and see where it goes.
Maybe there will be progress this week.

Made it through

It was a day that was like no other.
It was a good day.
The first step on a journey.
While DD was getting herself prepared to be home-schooled, I did work on preparing more of those little zippered pouches.  I have 6 cut out and need to pull the zippers for them.
I wanted to go through the "gift" closet to pass on usable items to the Autumn Winds Bazaar.
So far, this is what is donatable.
Too many shadows, but this is what the closet looks like now.
I have a few more shelves to go through, but I think what we are keeping will be things we will use or give away.
It's a new beginning for me too.

Prairie Moon organization challenge

This week's challenge is

Make a list

I'm good at list making.  Now to accomplish things on the list. :)

What should my list be? I could list the things I need to find answers to for homeschooling.  I could make a list of things to finalize for the boosters.  But, I think I want to make a list of the things I want to do for me.  What projects do I want to work on?
Quilt my 9 patch quilt
Quilt my green quilt
Quilt my floral quilt
Sew together the heart and 9 patch quilt
design my black and red quilt and finish it
Work on the baby clothing quilts
reorganize my desk for homeschooling
Smile more

Life changing times

Today is the first day we start on homeschooling my 11th grade daughter.
She is having some serious health issues, so we are going to get that in order and learn at the same time.
We are going to the gym at 8:30 and I woke up early, so what do you do?

Find an easy UFO and make a zippered bag.
Need to find my zipper foot to make these, but it was a fun project.
I have lots of pieces in a bag and bought zippers at an estate sale, so I might just do this today while DD figures out her workspace.
This past week was clean off your sewing area.
I got one side of the machine cleared fairly well.
I have a box of things that need to go back to the band.
The rest of the area is cluttered, but it is organized.
I'll call it a success.

My fabric usage from everything is exactly 300 yards this year.
I need to adjust my goal to 400, I guess.

Prairie Moon Procrastination Challenge

What 3 things can I pick?

1. File paperwork ALMOST DONE, but is filing every done?
2. Update the new Credit Card where it is needed. Still more to do
3.  Work on the red and black quilt. Didn't touch.

Of course two of the three are not quilting things, but they will help in the mess around the desk.

Join us and check out the Prairie Moon challenge.

The Challenge this week is:

Clean your sewing machine and the area around it

I think it needs some help.
It's been a crazy week with sashes and friends over, so I will take this challenge

A Lovely Year of Finishes

I have these nine patches and snowball quilts done and hanging around.
I would like to complete at least one of them this month.

Texas Star

TQPM had this pattern to be tested.
It was designed by my friend, Tammy.
I was testing this in July and just finished it recently.
I love the colors
From the leftover pieces, I made this table topper.

Check out the TQPM site for more exciting patterns.
