Digitizing

I've not touched anything in my studio, but my computer, today.
The family went to church and them to eat BBQ in Lockhart, TX
I'm home and relaxed.
I signed up for a digitizing course at ATW
and completed the first Chapter.
One Chapter a day for 30 days.
I hope this gets me motivated.
I have so many ideas and now maybe I can figure it all out.
I think they use Generations and I have EMBIRD.
So, I might be changing digitizing programs.

Stash Report

Judy has us keep track of what our stash is doing.
Used this Week:                                    28.79 yards
Used year to Date:                              158.20 yards
Total out of stash this Month (Jun)        26.40 yards
Added this Week:                                   0.00 yards
Added Year to Date:                             39.00 yards

Yards to goal:                                       41.80 yards

Net Used in quilts 2016:                    111.02 yards

A couple of other fun facts are:

Prairie Moon is doing a 350 blocks challenge this year:

Perimeter in inches                               7754

I've had lots of slim weeks of usage, but this week all those things I'd been working on were finished.
That feels good.

Finishes

The tulip.cat.heart quilt is done.
This involved 3 UFOs.

The pillow cases for special reach are done

The kiddos will create their crayon drawings and we will iron them and insert the pillow form.

Stashbuster UFO Challenge Numbers

 Fall panels
  More Fall panels
I have no idea where these came from.
They are a very coarse fabric.
It will make a nice man's quilt with all the animals.
This will become a pillow.
I have the instructions for Ann's snowballs.
Not the normal snowball pattern.
It should be fairly quick.

Special Reach pillow covers

The pillow forms are already made.
Now for the pillow covers
I have 10 made
I need 20 more.
They are all cut out, but need sewn together.
I think it took me a little over an hour to sew the 10, so 2 more hours to being sewn.
DD is going to turn them.

QOV #6 quilted

Such a great design.
I did leaves across the quilt because of some of the fabrics.

To Do List update

My to do List for the week

Finish the binding.
I can only bind for about 15 minutes at a time, so it will take time.
DONE
It will be delivered at lunch.
Make the backing.
Binding is already made.
Load and quilt.
DONE
Put this one together so I can free up the design wall for a T-shirt quilt.
Not really motivated on this one right now, but working on the one on the other design wall.

Dark Squares

OK, so this is a grouping of leftover blocks.
All dark, most blue.
I want it to not be square, so I have to come up with a different way to set it to stop the squarness.
also the 4 corner blocks are all different sizes, so I need to adjust them to one size.
The center is sewn together.
I'm going to look to see if I've stuffed away any other things that would work in this quilt.

Loaded

This is a combination UFO
Tulips - 2 kinds
Hearts
Cats
Misc few blocks

I had some leftover blocks and they seem to go together fairly well.

It is loaded for quilting.

scraps

I was thinking about the scraps and this red white and blue container is a mess.
I need to use some of these, so I'll be working on getting this so I can put it back in the scrap wall.

Maisy is done

The binding is done and it is washed.
Now to find a good home for this bright quilt.

Maisy

Maisy is quilted and binding is started.  It helps to already have that binding made. :)
I'll post a photo when the binding is done.

Prairie Moon Studio Organization Challenge

So, for this week, the Prairie Moon Studio Organization challenge is:

Work on organizing your scraps

Hummm, I have to say most of my scraps are under organizational control.
They themselves are a big too many, but they are under control.

I used some of my 2.5" squares in making lanyards.
I am using some of my blue scraps with my blue blocks.
I am using some of my green for a fall quilt.
I really think I need to use some of the black for a black and bright quilt.
That would be so much fun.

OMG

My OMG was the Tulip Trio pillow.
Here it is finished.
I need to find pillow forms on sale again. :)

Design Wall Monday

I need to make this larger, so I'm playing with ideas.
I wish I had more blue blocks.
Maybe I do.
I'm going to add a green border to this center and then alternate the smaller blocks.
Will probably just add a green border for a small lap quilt.

Both are OLD UFOs

It is quilted

It is quilted and it is big
After dinner I'll trim and add the binding.
The binding is already made, so that should be fairly quick.

Cleaning and quilting

DD and DS asked for help in cleaning up their rooms/home.
So, I said we would get on speaker phone and have DS talking to us while we all work.
I also told DD that I would focus her and then when something was there for her to do alone, I would be quilting this T-shirt quilt.
I have two more "rows" and probably 3 passes to have this big quilt quilted.
I'd like to have the binding sew on so I can hand sew it down while watching TV tonight.
Of course, I over worked my thumb yesterday and am wearing my brace to make sure I don't go back to the place I was.

It is a good Saturday.

Home again

In all honesty, I have not even touched the sewing machine this week.
The dark blues is still on the design wall.
I just wonder if I have more blocks somewhere else.
I know I will want to make it a rectangle, not square.
I was unpacking and found these cute fall blocks and like the idea of making this larger.
I do have more of the green background, so I think I know what I want to do.
I did finish loading the t-shirt quilt.

I have a massage today and there is a quilt show going on.
If I don't go to the quilt show, I think this quilt will be quilted.

Almost everything is back in its place.

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

the challenge this week is to

Pick a project to use some of your scraps in

I am sure I'll find plenty to do this with.
One I can think of is the lanyards.
I've been making some as I went along while in Lubbock.
I'm home now, so I'll have to see if I have specific colors I can make some from.
They are easy and fun to complete.

Design wall Monday

10 out of 48 done

Sunday, July 17, 2016

Smaller mug rug
Smaller mug rug.
I think I need some brown thread to make steam from the cup.

Maple Leaves

I only had 8 maple leaves, but I had some fall blocks.
I'm going to see if I can make this larger with some of those blocks.
DD is with me now and I made her a lanyard with her fabric choices.
What a fun and easy project.

Saturday, July 16, 2016

Last night

I have 3 more maple leaves to put together.
9 out of 48 Simply Woven done
Had to make another lanyard out of the simply woven leftovers.

Picking DD up today and listening to the concerts.
What a fun time that will be.
I'll get to sew some this evening.

Going slow

I think I got used to making the small things.
Working on Simply Woven is time consuming, but DS likes the results and it is growing on me
Only 7 out of 48 done.
Decided my leader/ender will be the Maple Leaf UFO.
This was created when I didn't get measurements right for a Fall Quilt.
Most of these are already prepared into block pieces.
Just need to make the HST and sew them together.
Might be a quick quilt.

Zippered Pouches

Cute little zippered pouches.
I don't like the way the zippers go in.
I know there is probably a secret, and maybe that is an invisible zipper.
But, they are done.
Another UFO off my list.
Carol passed these on to me to finish.

Thursday, July 14, 2016

Finished for the night

another lanyard

a purse

a few blocks of simply woven

Bored

Do you ever get bored with a pattern?
Well Simply Woven is that quilt.
I have all the first step done,
I now need to press the seams open. :(
I don't like pressing seams open.
I did put borders on that sampler quilt from the different swaps.

I like it better.

Simply Woven & others

Made another lanyard.
One side of a T-shirt pillow
The other side....
Simply Woven is restarted.
Cut everything out.
I'd only cut a couple pieces before and didn't like the background.
Step 1 begin in earnest
One test block done.
DS loves it, so the pattern is a go.
I don't like the slicing and dicing of this pattern.
I think I'll help myself and do one step and move on to another project and bounce back and forth.
