sunday accountabilty

I didn't get to post last weekend, because it was Girl Scout Cookie weekend. DD had 4 booths and a neighborhood walk to sell her 500 boxes of cookies. She is within 6 boxes and we decided to just buy them instead of being out again this weekend.

I used 8 yards for a backing of a slanted star quilt. I did not make all the blocks, so I can't count them in my usage, but, I did use my fabric for the backing.

I made a couple of love blocks, but don't think I took photos of them. :(

Other than that, I have been doing GS stuff.

Fabric usage goal (100 yards)--(84.40) yards to go
Fabric Added This Week -- 0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date -- 20 yards
Fabric Used This Week --8.17 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date -- 35.60 yards
Fabric Used this month -- 11.93 yards
Net fabric used year to date: -15.60 yards

a day of enjoyment

I've been able to quilt some this weekend. It was my Jo's class yesterday. We are making baskets. 4" baskets. Yikes! LOL

I even won a door prize for completing the project last month.

I don't think this one will be done as quickly, but that is OK, I'm learning lots.

I also quilted this frog baby quilt for Marianne. Isn't it fun? I need to make the bias binding and attach it for her. I used lime green thread on the front and blue on the back. This is one of those fun baby quilts.

Mary told us how to make a small portable design board to take to class when you are working on small projects. I have the pieces ready to do that too.

quiltilng again

I finally got the quilt quilted. After a week of Girl Scout cookie selling with DD, I finished quilting this quilt. Only problem is with thread breakage. I love the look of variegated thread, but I hate the way it breaks.

Now to get it bound. I did use 8 yards of fabric, so that is a wonderful thing.

Top almost done

Well, I didn't get the top finished, but mainly because I was cleaning my studio. the cleaning bug hit, and you really have to take advantage of it when it does. So, I am able to see my floor. Fabric is put away that I am not using right now. Projects I thought I'd work on and didn't are back in the UFO cabinet. Carpet has been vacuumed. Still some things to work on, but life is good.

I worked on this top while I was cleaning. This photo has 4 missing blocks, but I made them yesterday and sewed all the columns together and am working on the rows now. I have 4 more rows to go and it is a top. I love the slanted star pattern, and really like the way black makes the colors pop.

If I'm lucky, I'll finish this top this week and get it mailed to the recipient. That would make me feel good. I still need to figure out the backing for it. It is larger than I thought it was going to be, so I need to rethink that.

Sunday accountability

I quilted a QOV this week. That means I have two more QOVs to finish this month. It's been a busy week for other things, so not much sewing got done.
I made some Valentine pillows and made a love block. I needed 3 teacher pillows for DD's classes.
I finished the teacher pillows in the nick of time. I believe they liked them.

Fabric usage goal (100 yards)--(92.56) yards to go
Fabric Added This Week -- 0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date -- 20 yards
Fabric Used This Week --3.01 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date -- 27.44 yards
Fabric Used this month -- 3.77 yards
Net fabric used year to date: -7.44yards

QOV #81 Finished

I completed the quilting on QOV #81. I have 2 more QOVs to quilt. Seems life is letting me quilt a bit.

Sucess

Not really big projects, but I did get some pillows made.
This is a photo of the grand kids pillows. At least the 5 that we are in contact with. The other 2 are no where to be found. Makes me sad....
This one is one of 3 for teachers. I need to get busy and get the other 2 done tonight, if at all possible.
This is one of those blocks I've always wanted to try. It is the Lady in the Lake block. I love using the daisy print and making it almost look like a basket. Can't wait to see this one together.

Sunday accountability

I had a productive week, even though I didn't use that much stash. I did get a few things crossed off my list. I made a love block for a dear lady, I also made 3 birthday blocks for a swap I'm in with the Birthday Runaways and a small wall hanging for our librarian to gift.
I also quilted a QOV - no fabric usage, but an item off the list. So, it was a busy week, but not much yardage.

Fabric usage goal (100 yards)--(95.57) yards to go
Fabric Added This Week -- 0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date -- 20 yards
Fabric Used This Week --0.76 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date -- 23.18 yards
Fabric Used this month -- 0.76 yards
Net fabric used year to date: -4.43 yards

Excitement

I have been playing Farmville and sorting scraps. I have too many scraps for my scrap bins. I've sorted by color and by cut pieces. Theseare overflowing. So, I decided to put all the pieces that would make good strings in my string bin.
I don't have any more scraps to sort, or at least I don't think I do. YES, I am caught up in one area.
Now to make more string quilts.

QOV #81

Finished quilting another QOV. Lots of different stars. I have 3 more here to finish and my QOV quilting will be done for the month.

busy week

I've been working on birthday blocks for a swap with the birthday runaways. There are 3 that go to different ladies, but could be mailed to one. So, I took advantage of that offer and did them all this month. All Churn Dash blocks, but some 9 inches and some 12 and some brights and some civil war. LOL So, they all look a little different.
Then, I did a quick wall hanging for the Fein Tuned group and think it turned out OK.
Then, I'm working on minkee pillows. What a mess that is. The fuzz is almost the size of the pillow. Can't leave the house when you work on these things. but, the feel wonderful and are a fun pillow for young girls.
I'm also loading a QOV, so that will be quilted soon.

Tammy's quilt finished

Boy, this quilt gave me fits. Well, not the quilt, but I think it was the thread. Sometimes it would work without issue and others would break every few inches. Yikes took me too long to do a large meander. This is a new bobbin case and I wonder if that is part of the problem. Anyway, I got it finished. YES!!!
I have to share with you DD's and my hair for Locks of Love. The one on the left is DD's hair and you will notice how thick it is. The scrawny one on the right is mine. LOL
