Studio Clean up Challenge

I had so many containers with supplies in them.
I wasn't sure what was in what container, and come to find out, these were basic supplies but no project.
So, they are emptied and place in with the rest of the bags for future use.
I seem to leave earrings and hair supplies in the bags.
I'm not sure why, but they are taken and returned to their home.
All of those containers had lots of scissors, needles, pins, seam rippers, magnifying glasses, pincushions, and more.
I took them all out and placed like things together.
I ended up with three containers with three projects.
Now I know if I pick on up to take in the car that it will have a project included.

Challenge is done.

New Studio Challenge

The Prairie Moon Challenge came out this morning

Organize hand sewing items.

I need to figure out what I have laid out with projects and what I should store differently.

Embroidery Machine cover

This is my embroidery machine cover UFO.

The history behind it is my Girl Scout troop wanted to learn to sew.
This is the practice piece from 210?
Oh, my some of the seams were like winding roads in width. LOL
I fixed the ones that wouldn't allow the quilt to lay flat.
I left the others and added a border.
My daughter used it for a practice piece in each of the squares before she quilted on her project.
Not all the squares are quilted, and not all the borders are quilted.
I will use this as a test quilt for when I want to try a new design.
But, it is bound and covers my embroidery machine.
I'm happy.

Design Wall Monday

 I'm linking to

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts Design Wall Monday and Monday Making.

I'm slowly getting the T-shirts stabilized.
Right now, a test quilt is THE priority, until that is done, nothing else is happening.
My daughter's project is complete, so the only thing on the second design wall is pillow blocks.
I haven't had the time to put something new up on the design wall.

I had this UFO, but I don't know why.
It is in Bobcat colors, so I'm sure it's been within the last four years.
It is so tiny.
Why didn't I just finish it?
Well, it is finished now.
Now, what do I do with it?
The guild Mystery Quilt is finished.
I do like this one.
The Christmas quilt squares from Carol is finished too.
This one was started many years ago and is now finished.
I did put ornaments on it, but I'm not sure I like them.
Another bag for my daughter's BINGO cart at work.
This one came from Carol too.
It was a technique I'm not sure I love, but it is finished and pretty/

I had most of these ready to quilt.
I started quilting last week, and I'm happy I could get these done this week.
I have one more that needs quilting.

A couple of other fun facts are:

Quilting is more fun than Housework has us working on scraps.

We finished the project.
I say we because I helped her with the binding and helped implement the design she created.
I'm very proud of her.

So Much Progress

I have been long arming.
It feels WONDERFUL!
UFO #33 is quilted and bound.
These squares came from my friend Carol and have been around for many years now.
It feels good to have it completed.
My daughter will be working on these this weekend.
The one on the left is the practice piece from Girl Scouts many years ago.
It is definitely not well put together, but it will work for a practice quilt.
I used the backing fabric from the cushions from the stools we made in scouts.
It will end up covering my embroidery machine.
The art quilt is loaded.
The plan is to have her practice the designs she wants to quilt on the art quilt.
When she is comfortable, then she will move directly over to the art quilt and quilt it.
This is not one of my UFOs
It is the quilt guild's mystery quilt this year.
It is quilted and bound.
I love this quilt.
I might even keep this one.

I made a bag for the BINGO cart
My A LIttle bit Shorter Tall Tree UFO
I didn't make the center, I just added the borders as requested.
It will not go to Suellis to be quilted and then back to me for the binding.
I'm not sure who is doing the label.

I'm making progress.

I'm also working on a test quilt.
28 blocks to go. :)

Design Wall Monday

I'm linking to

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts Design Wall Monday and Monday Making.

Still working on the T-shirt quilt.
This will take some time because of how many shirts there are to prep.
DD's quilt project is ready to quilt.
She will be back next weekend.
I'll let her practice on a quilt top I use to cover the embroidery machine.
Then, she will work on her project.
She can practice binding on the cover and then do her project.
She has lots of notes for her presentation.
It should be done next weekend.

Carol's Flowers

I call this Carol's Flowers because Carol gave me this UFO years ago.
She moved and donated UFOs to my collection, hoping they would be completed.
Finally, it is quilted.
It should be completed tonight while watching TV.

Fun products, even quilting ones

I have a friend who is starting to sell her items.

She and her husband have a Facebook page H&H workshop in Texas to show and sell their products.

They have quilters rulers.

I love her lighted sign.

There are many other things.
If you want to order, send a message, and they work with you.

Check it out, and if you want something else, ask and they could work with you.

My daughter's Graduation quilt is finally finished.
She saw it every time she came since the end of April and didn't know it was for.
Her comment was "I was going to steal it when you finished it."
Well, it is hers and it is nice that she loves it.
This is one of the Jo Morton projects.
But, it is not her design.
I couldn't find the pattern for these HSTs but found his pattern by Christina Cameli named Sonoran Star Quilt.

While my daughter worked on her project, I cut out two test projects I need to finish the tops this week.
It would be wonderful to finish one fully, but time will tell on that.

Quilting is more fun than Housework has us working on scraps.

I also helped my daughter with a project for her Master's program.
She wants to depict a social injustice in a wall hanging.
She hasn't done lots of quilting and has never appliqued.
But, she is learning and doing well.
We are using scraps for some of the parts.

Progress was made from last weekend.
All the people and symbols have come from the scrap drawer.

Mosaic

I finally was able to quilt long enough in the last three days to finish quilting Mosaic.

I custom quilted it, so it took longer than normal.

Add to it that I don't have the stamina to quilt for long periods, and it takes time to finish quilting.

I'm excited that I was able to quilt and even more that the quilting is done.

I have the binding already made.

Now to trim and add the binding and label.

I have something to work on while watching TV with DH tonight.

Studio Update

I still have work to do in the studio, but it is a start.

But, I continue to make some progress...

Things are out of control in my room.
I'm going bare my soul to you and then hope to get some progress made.
If I put it out here, then there are others I'll be accountable to.

When I bring items up from downstairs, they are staged at the top of my stairs.
I have new items here and am going through them soon after bringing them upstairs.
I am working on figuring out how to get those extra boxes empty and the items in a new home.
I still need to determine where certain items go.

My corner cabinet is ALWAYS a mess.

I will need to figure this one out more, but I'm OK with it for now.
No change here for this week.

I am using the embroidery machine, so it is uncovered.
The items are all filed, that feels so good.
I have a few of the containers completely gone through.
I'm happy that all the filing is done.
I had some cleaning happening here and it is in the messy stage versus the clean one. LOL

We had an art quilt session with my daughter yesterday.
All the items in the basket will be put away soon.

I still need to go through the things on top of the bin.
I have some repair work to do on items and they are hiding on the lid.
I think I found more items that landed on this bin.
I thought I had this down until my daughter came up with a project and I needed another of the empty drawers to put her fabric into.
As I complete things in the drawers, I'll be replacing items on top into the drawers.

The bags to the side are projects next in line, so they will stay there.
I'm working on the T-shirt quilt, so two of the bags will slowly dwindle as I stabilize the shirts.
The art project messed this area up, so I made sure it was clean before I went to bed last night.

I still need to get that quilt quilted.
There are things behind the long arm which need homes too.

Behind my cutting table.
Nothing has changed here.

I'm still working on one of the containers.

I still have lots of bags in behind the long arm, but it is passable.
The bags are sorted and this is about the best it is going to get until I find a different location for them.

I made progress, and that is what I'm looking for during each week.

I can do this!

Thanks for helping me stay accountable.
