Update

Vicki sent me a red hat. I'll get to wear it in February. Thank you, Vicki

DS and DD today. DS came over to spend the day with his sister. Isn't that wonderful?

I finally got to sew tonight. I made 15 pink and white 9 patches and had 7 pink embroidered hearts done earlier in the week. I'll mail them on Monday.

Now, I need to make a few other love blocks.

I just found out that one of my parent's long time neighbors from Austin had to put the husband in a nursing home. How sad is that? I might need another love quilt to make again.

Fun give away

A give away. This wonderful lady is giving away 3 things and it requires a comment on her blog and a link to mine. So, here you go. I needed a distraction today. LOL Being Girl Scout Cookie Mom can be frustrating.

Immigration song

Immigration song from long ago. This says it all, and says it was happening long ago too. So, not a new problem, but the way we are dealing with it is.

Ended up buying 1 yard of fabric for a BDB that I need to make. I can also use it in a black and white quilt I'm making. It was not a good week to sew. But, this weekend was. I've got a quilt half done and one ready to load on the long arm. So, maybe next week will be better for us all.

Christmas in January

My dear friend, Kim, sent me this box today. She got DD and DH gifts too, but mine are the best!

Look at the wall hanging she made me. You've seen it on her blog, but I' didn't know it was mine. I love it. It is hanging on my kitchen wall. I tend to put the wall hangings in this one spot and it fits great there.
Here are the other goodies. The peppermints are wonderful. The nutcracker ornament is actually holding that seam ripper in his back. LOL Don't you love the watermelon pincushion? The Ricky Tims playing cards. What fun. The coaster, snowman -- you can send these to me, just not the real thing, OK? I love these little tins and the key ring.
Thank you for a fun day.

Not a good week for me, but I played with strings in travel mugs. I didn't like the no backing one or the one with batting, so I'm going to still have to play and figure out which way works the best. I bought a case, so I need to figure it out. LOL.

I've still be down with the bug. DD was home from school 3 days, back in school for one and then is off until Tuesday. We went on a family outing the last 2 days and I will be home tomorrow. I hope to sew tomorrow.

Well this week and weekend were a bust. I caught this virus that had me sleeping the day away. The week was busy getting back into the swing of things and figuring out where my house went. LOL

I did finish the 2 UFOs, so that is a great thing.

Next UFO

This was actually a donation to me for a QOV or Love quilt. So, I liked it enough to start on it. I'm also making a lesson on how to chain piece a quilt top together, and it takes a bit longer to get that together and make sure to take enough photos. LOL
This will be my third UFO this year.

Here is the heartstrings I finished yesterday. I've had it for awhile, but now it is done. Another UFO off the list!!!

2 finishes

I don't have photos yet, but I got the bindings on 2 quilt. Both were UFOs, so this is a wonderful start to 2009. Woo Hoo.
DH decided we all needed to go on a ride, so I got to work on the 2 bindings I had sitting here waiting to be finished.
The Mystery Cindy did that is now going to an adopted Niece that had brain surgery last week.

My hands hurt, but they are done and it feels good. As soon as they are out of the dryer, I'll post photos.

I'm hoping that 2009 will be a year of more finishes and more consistent quilting. I have some items that are close to completion and some ideas for teacher gifts and things that might be fun to do. So, I'm hoping I can work through all these thoughts and have a fine 2009.

Last Quilt of 2008

Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years Eve.

We had a family affair -- just the 3 of us. It was fun to be together as our primary family.

I finished the binding and label on the love quilt. My last quilt of the year.
Friendship stars from the love bank. Her favorite color is blue, so the blue was chosen as the alternate squares. Another friend sent in the backing and now she has a double sided quilt. I'll package it today and mail it tomorrow.
I have lots of things to go in the mail tomorrow, so I should get busy with the packaging.
My folks won't be over for dinner today because Mom is starting the New Year off with a sore throat. Praying it isn't anything serious.
Have a wonderful New Year Day and a fabulous 2009
