Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

This week, the challenge is to

Eradicate a pile

 I always have piles.
This is one that forever bothers me, so I think it is time to work on it.

design Wall Monday

One of my design walls is empty.
The other is the T-shirt quilt.
It's designed and now to fill in the blanks and randomly arrange the sides.
Check out the other design walls.

Weekend is over

The center is sewn together.
It is 99 inches long.  YIKES
Now to figure out the sides and how to keep them the same size.
I'm sure it is going to work out with some fillers. :)
My leader ender is the baby clothing quilt.
This is the bag with the two patches sewn together.
It's like scraps, it never seems to go down.
This is the resulting four patches.
I do not think this is going on the trip with me.
I really want to work on other things.
I always take more than I can finish so I can move to another project.
Many of these are UFOs with a few new starts.
1. Acorn Squash Table runner
2. Bird of Paradise quilt
3. On the Town Purse
4. Patriotic Panel quilt
5. Run around bag
6. Disney Runaround bag
7. Turtle
8. America Spirit
9. Snowman
10. Bloom
11. Maze
12. Simply Woven
13. Bread & Butter
14. Maple Leaf
15. Moonshadow hooty patooty owl
16. Night Watch
17 Christmas Wreath
18. Christmas Traditions
19. Crazy Eights (bonus hst)
20. Black Embroidered butterfly table topper or pillow
21. Pieced hearts
22. Patriotic GS wall hangings
23. Zippered Pouches
24. Music quilt
25. Gypsy Rose

Many are UFOs, so they are already started.
I am sure I won't be bored.
We might be staying a couple extra days because of a campus tour.

Before I leave on the 9th, I would like to get done:
1. T-shirt quilt
2. Memory Quilt
3. QOV quilted
4. QOV quilted
5. QOV quilted
6. Birdcage cover made from UFO

Progress

 I think I have a plan.
4 more shirts to add some green to and then we can start the rearrangements for color.
Progress is good.

T-shirt quilt

Finally I am moving the T-shirts to the design wall.
3 more to shadow.
Shadowed T-shirts and then I start adding the green background to lay it all out.
I'm not sure how I'm actually going to get these in place, but there will background of green around the shirts so they look like they are floating.
It feels good to get going on it.

Memory quilt

The memory quilt is in top form.
Debating on the need for a border.
I'll bind it in pink.
It is probably big enough.

continuing on

OK, so I have the Prairie Moon Challenge to clean out my notions.
My 4 drawers of "stuff" was hard to find things in.
The top drawer was OK, but the rest, oh my.
I started on it and decided to move ribbons to one drawer instead of 2.
This is the mess I made after I've cleaned up lots.
I still need to figure out where everything is going.
I'm putting the memory quilt together!
Two columns down and two more to go.

I hope to get things done soon.

Studio organizing

Did get my sewing area cleaned up some.
It will always need something, but it feels good to have it neater.

This week is to

Organize your notions

These 4 drawers are a mess.

Tried to clean then last week, but was not able to get them done

So, I'll work on them this week.

mid week matters

Midweek matters is a fun place for inspiration
I finished the pillow covers for the Equessense camp project.
The kiddos will make their own garden picture with crayons and we will iron them to make them permanent.
I'll also have extra muslin to them to work with so I can do a quilt for Equessense.
T-shirt quilt waiting patiently.
One more row to put the blocks together and then make the center.
After that I need to determine if I want the pink for a border or something.

2 bindings done

I finally finished Dazzle.
I love the colors.
Was not thrilled about some of the structure, but it is together.
Race Track is finished and ready for donation.
It's been around for a long time.

I'm having thread breakage on the last QOV, so I'm frustrated with it.

gift card holder

Found this inside another piece of fabric.
I just needed a finishing touch, so I did it -- my JOT
Small, but something done and ready to use.

QOV #4

Quilted Swirly hearts on this one.
QOV #4 is done.
One more QOV and I will have all the quilts quilted that I have around.

I worked on the binding on Dazzle, so it is coming along.
We go pick DD up from Band Camp today, so I'll work on it some more.

I feel like I'm making some progress.

To do Tuesday

I'm linking up at To Do Tuesday
I need to add binding to this one.

Still working on putting the memory quilt together

Still working on the T-shirt quilt

Need to hand sew the binding on Dazzle

Loading the first of the 3 QOVs

I'm having stomach pains today, so I'm moving slow.
Slow is better than nothing, so all is well.

Prairie Moon Organization Challenge

Last week was to clean up my cutting and pressing table.

This is how it looks now.
It does make it lots easier to work on.

Clean up the area around your sewing machine

OR

Give your sewing machine a good cleaning

I never seem to have a clean spot near the sewing machine.
There are always things going on and I'm using it, soooo
But, I need to dust around it and maybe finish some of the things and put others in their spot.
This will be a good project for me.

Race Track

My patriotic Racetrack UFO is quilted.
Had lots of thread breakage, but it is quilted
Now to trim and bind both the racetrack and dazzle.
I'm loading one of the QOVs I need to get done too.

Dazzle

Dazzle is quilted.
I'll put the binding on and have something to work on during the evenings and in the car.
I'm thrilled.
Now to load the Race Track patriotic quilt.

Design Wall Monday

Still have the T-shirt quilt and the memory quilt on the design walls.
My goal today is to load the Dazzle quilt and work on the Memory quilt.

organization Challenge

the Prairie Moon Challenge was to clean off the major work space.
I have 2.
My pressing table before
My pressing table after,
Now I have more space
My cutting table was becoming a storage area.
Now I can cut and all that extra fabric not in use is being stored nicely.

Small quilting group

Our small group met today and I was semi productive.

I finished a Batman pillow from leftovers
I finished a color wash pillow that came from Carol.
I have the top for the Patriotic Racetrack quilt ready to quilt.
The backing is there too.
I was working on my Quilty Fun blocks using them as leader/enders.
I have a few more to go and trim.

It felt good to be sewing again.

Prairie Moon

I love these challenges that Prairie Moon puts out.
Last time I was to clean up the bookshelf above my desk.
I filed all the loose paper.
This week we are to
Clean off your main work surface
My cutting table is a mess, but mostly the things to one side.
My pressing station is a disaster.
I keep adding things to it and that just means this big board is no longer big.
Maybe this will help with motivation.
I've been going through some crazy times with my Mom and it appears she is doing better.

Updating of what happened over the weekend

Made more microwave bowl potholders
This project is long overdue.
I am still cutting some of the baby clothing and stabilizing, but that is almost done.
These are sewn in 2 patches and ready to go into 4 patches.
Doesn't seem to be all that many 4 patches, but I'm happy with it.
Some progress is better than none.
Decided on the background and the shadow fabrics.
Looks like half the blocks are sewn together.
Maybe another full day of sewing will get them sewn together.
Has anyone ever stabilized fabric for the binding?
