Fall Mystery is done

Well, I did it! I finished the Fall Mystery top. I do like this one with all the colors. I might have to do something like it again. First, I need to focus on the quilting of 4 quilts! I have 2 heartstrings that need backing made and then quilting done. They will be simple because of the designs. Simple if best.
Then, I go the batting for the kind sized of my friend in CA quilt. That needs to be done too.
Then, this one needs quilting too. I'd like to get it done and maybe give it to a teacher that has helped DD all through school.
While I was doing the leaf border, I did some string potholders. Maybe I can get those done soon. I think there is one more set on the way, so that will be all that needs done.

Fall Mystery one step closer

I got all the leaves done. Now to make sure I like the arrangement. I know, don't over think it! LOL I like the colors. I'm not sure where this one is going, but it might just be for one of the teachers. Maybe not right now, but at the end of the year.

Working on Fall Mystery

I'm still working on the leaves for the fall mystery border. I like the results. This has been a fun one to work on. Wish I could do it more at one time. I have 2 more colors to play with.

Mystery coming together

I've got Cindy's mystery center together. I'm also working on the potholders, so that is taking a bit of time.

Now to start on the borders. I now need a thin inner border. I hope I have enough of a dark brown to do that with. If not, I know I have a dark green that will work. Mysteries are so exciting. Thank you Cindy!

I've been sewing

Well, it feels good to do some sewing. I didn't get to sew all day like I had hoped, but did have fun. I have the center of a top ready to sew together. This is a mystery that Cindy did for us. I love it so far. I "cheated" because it could have had hst instead of the squares, but I liked the simplicity of the squares. I have so much turmoil in my life right now, simplicity is appreciated. I hope to get the top sewn together tomorrow. There is a border to do that is a bit more complicated, so that will take me some time.
This is QOV #65 and I realized I had not posted a photo of it. Isn't the work wonderful? I only quilted and bound it, but I love it.

Another Silver Award

I saw this on one of my embroidery groups, and thought it was a good thing to share. Way to go Torrie!

"Hi, I know this is an embroidery group, but I really wanted to share our great news! My daughter Torrie (she's 14) has been working on her Girl Scout Silver Award all summer long, for her project she attempted to make 30 quilts to donate to children in need. Well she met her goal and then some, at the end of August she donated 51 quilts to various organizations around our area. Since then she has continued to quilt and we have been making quilts to send to Galveston Texas as there is still a huge need from the hurricane Ike victims. Well, to keep this short, recently we were contacted to see if Torrie was willing to do an interview about her quilts, click on the link http://tinyurl.com/3zm2rtif you would like to see the interview!I am so very very proud of all that she has accomplished!Thank you so much for letting me share!

Ginny

P. S. If you are interested in reading about her Silver Award and her donations, please look on my blog, www.ginnysquilts.blogspot.com I wrote about her adventures."

Yo Yos

I know many of us are playing with yoyos. Check this site out and see what Arlette has done with her yoyos. Wow, and even some tutorials are available.

I love them. I really need to stop adding to my to do list.

Saturday quilting group

I forgot my camera, so I don't have the normal photos.

I did finish a birthday block for my group -- the only swap I do like that anymore.

I made 2 darling stockings for a give away. I need to get more cut and get them mailed off.

I also made 9 string pot holder fronts. I forgot the backing fabric, so they will have to be finished this week. I think I'll be doing more of them for teacher gifts.

I did a little cutting on the baby clothing quilt. I was not in the mood for that work today. This is the bin now -- looks like it is increasing. LOL, but I really have cut pieces out. Here are the pieces I've cut. I'm sewing some together to as I go in order to get them mixed up.

Oh, I also got the jars of my bug jar quilt ready to sew. That is one of those UFOs that has been languishing for a long time. Of course that one UFO turned into 2 because some of the bugs were not boy material and I'll need to make a girl bug quilt -- you know, the butterflies, lady bug type.

So, what did I work on this week? I got those silly curtains completed and hung! I'm still struggling with my quilting. Seems my motivation and focus is always pulled somewhere else. I'm working to fix that this week.

working away

I'm doing OK with my items. The lady I made the purse for (it is for a gift) loved it. Whew. Do you ever get scared that you didn't get it right?

The baby quilt block was perfect too. It brought lots of memories with her saying, Oh, I remember that outfit.... so, that was on the right track. I wanted to make sure before I spent any more time cutting and putting this together. This is what still needs to be cut. :( I think I'll cut some today and put some smaller units together. These are the 2.5", 4.5" and 6" squares I've put together. I'm working to make sure to keep the logos intact to make it more interesting. I've even had a few pockets that worked well. It is a learning experience for me, and I'm beginning to have fun with it.

I need to head to the store and get some supplies for Girl Scouts to make headbands and such. That should be a fun time.
