Design Wall Monday

Well, I can't show you the finished top that is on the design wall right now.  It is one I've been testing this month.  Finally finished it this weekend.  I also got the border on that star quilt.  I'm making the backing out of stash, so I am having a little difficulty.
It's time to start another quilt.  I'm not sure what I am going to work on.
Maybe I will work on that pink and green one and make it into a quilt for Mom's bed at the nursing home.  That would finish another UFO and give Mom a nice new quilt.  I need to measure her bed to fit the pieces on that I've already made.
Guess I'll put it on the design wall today.

Stash Report

So, not much usage in the Month of February.  Everything has stayed the same.  I've been so ill this month that I've not had any energy.  I so many that are almost to tops that when I do start quilting again, I will be able to finish a few quickly.

Visit Judy for more stash reports.

Second UFO for Sampler Society

I'm making a little progress on this vine and leaves.  Wish I had made the leaves a bit larger, but it's too late now. I'm trying to spread out the colors of green, so each area is getting something done on it.  I am wondering if I want to add some other color to those vines and what I'm going to do for the next round or am I just going to bind it off for a nice sized wall hanging.  I'm not totally sure yet.  I didn't get much done on it today because all the time I thought I'd be waiting was hardly any.

I'm feeling a bit better, so that makes it a little easier to work on things.  Now, to get DD to feeling better too.

My plans for the weekend might not be lots of time at home.  DH wants to do a family thing tomorrow.

My to do list is a little less than normal.
1.  Finish the border on the quilt I'm testing
2.  Go Through the mail
3.  Finish the uniforms
Corbett
Clemens
4.  Finish the borders on the Star quilt

Still sick :(

Well, I had grand plans, but DD and I have some bug going around.  On top of that I have an ear infection.  No wonder I'm not feeling very well.
So, nothing was done in the quilting arena, but I did play in EQ.  I was asked to teach a sampler class for fairly new students.  So, I wanted to start off with some easy blocks, and progressively get harder.  Then, I wanted to show them that there are ways to set sampler blocks that are different.  The class will be 9 months long, with a month off in the summer.  This was a setting someone in the Sampler group used and I modified it to fit what I wanted.
Maybe I can start doing something tomorrow and help myself enjoy life instead of feeling miserable all the time.

New project

The Sampler Society yahoo group is doing a celebration of 10 years together.  So, everyone is picking a block for their birthday.  We just got the link to our first block birthday Cake.
I've not been able to figure out what I want to do with this.  But, I have not made a quilt for our bed.  I figure that I want to stay with the teal and black in the bedroom.  These are the colors.

This pillow is reversible, so I showed you both sides.  I could use the Kona black for a consistency as the background and add in teal and brown to the mix.
So, I now have a plan.
Next stop is making the Birthday block.

My new baby

Well, as many of us quilters know, there is a need for each of us to have a featherweight sewing machine.  Lana found this one on craigslist for a price I was willing to pay.
The case is worn, and some of the scrolling is off, but she is pretty to me.  I know I will need a new cord and some TLC on the box.  I just now need to find all the places I need to know about.  :)

The history of this machine was a Mom used it to make uniforms and costumes for a family band that toured all over.  She was bought in 1937 and helped keep food on the table during depression times.

I can't wait to sew on her and clean her up.

Small quilt group

Can you believe that I didn't take my camera today?  I would not be able to show you what I was working on, but the other 2 had a couple great projects.

Lane working on a Christmas type of wall hanging.  It was abstract trees in black, white and red.  It is turning out fun.

Judy was working on jelly roll quilt with the Little Black Dress Fabric and it is turning out so nice.

So, now that I'm home, I've done the kitchen cleaning, have a load of wash on and hope to get something else worked on.

I really need to do some hemming on these band uniforms.

The chicken in the tree

Those that didn't believe me, there really is a chicken in my back yard.  He is in our "peach" tree that is really a willow tree.  DH scared him up the tree.

Girl Scout Gold project

this young lady is so impressive.  She is working on her Gold Project and has this website.  I thought I'd share it with you.  She finds some wonderful quotes.

Weekend is here

The weekend plans last weekend did not happen, so let's see what I can get done this weekend.

1.  Borders on Star quilt
2.  Start on the testing of another quilt that I can't show
3.  Hem one pair of pants from Jr High band
4.  Hem uniforms from High School band
5.  Go through at least one more box of parent's stuff
6.  Of course, housework in-between all my fun stuff

It's cold outside

so, it has been another one of those weeks.  Sick child, doctor appointments for her, doctor appointments for me, and lots of band activities.  I told myself that I would keep a project going that I could take with me.  I had this UFO that is on my Samper Society UFO list that needs something done.  This was the round robin that they dropped out and send back with just the muslin and no applique done.  So, I decided to try and put some vines on it with leaves.  I might end up adding some berries, but that will wait until the leaves on it.

I had the vines done, I thought.  But somehow I missed an entire side.  LOL  So, as I was putting on the leaves I realized I had an entire side needing vines on it.  So, I'm working on that before I start on more leaves.  My daughter told me to put some brown leaves on it, but I'm not sure I like that idea.  time will tell.

Weekend plans

DD is sick.  She has been sleeping so much that we took her to the doctor last night. :(  She has a bad virus and sleep, drink and pain relief is all we can do for her.  No strep, so that is good.  That means we won't be doing much this weekend.  Cookie booth on Sunday.  So, I have a few things I need to accomplish.

1.  Borders on Star quilt
2.  Work on applique for the 2nd Sampler Society UFO challenge (it won't get done, but I need to make progress on it)
3.  Hem one pair of pants from Jr High band
4.  Hem uniforms from High band
5.  Go through at least one more box of parent's stuff
6.  Of course, housework in-between all my fun stuff

That should keep me busy.
