Design Wall Monday

This is what is on my main design wall.  I need to adjust some of the colors, but will sew together for a quick quilt

On my design curtains is this block.  I love this design.  Need to work on making more as my leader ender project.  I have one partly done and one made.  Now to just decide how big to make it.

Stash Report

I didn't quilt much during the week, but I did get 2 smaller sized wall hanging done yesterday.  I had to buy some fabric for a quilt I'm testing, so my numbers don't look that great.  If I hadn't added any, I would be well over my 100 yards used.  Guess I'ved used more, but stash has not changed that much. Oh well, I'm having fun and I have the room for it, so I'm OK

Used this Week: 3.9 yards
Used year to Date: 126.1 yards
Added this Week: 2.0 yards
Added Year to Date: 42.25 yards
Monthly usage: 8.73 yards

Successful day!

Liz's UFO #3 from my list was a palm tree wall hanging.  Leslee drew this out on paper for me and back when we did the B&B retreat (2006?) I started it.  I had everything in the bag but the green for the fronds.  LOL  How can you make a palm tree wall hanging without green?  Anyway, I used my scrap drawer to use for all the green, including the border and the binding.  Woo Hoo another UFO done.  I'm keeping this one.

The coffe cup UFO is done also.  I bound it tonight watching cover affairs with DH.  I hope to hang this one in my kitchen.

Saturday sewing

Well, not much happening here during the week, but today is laundry and sewing day.  Yeah!

This is my design wall project.  Don't stop one of these mid stream.  :(  It is not a fun thing.  I need to add the border on it so I can figure out where the palm fronds need to go -- inside and under the frame or on top of the frame.  When I started this, I didn't get the water and sand very even with the sky.  Did I have a plan for that????  I have no idea.  I'm in the process of sewing the inside palms and will work on the outside ones in a bit.  I do think I know what my border is going to be, but not the binding.
It feels good to be sewing again.

Design wall Monday

My design wall is not changing lots.  Seems I quilted too much this week and not enough of my own stuff.  Then the unstitching of the long arm stitches is a mess.  Yuck!
I have the cups decided by DD and they are appliqued down.  Not sure if I like not having all the windows with cups but both DD and DH like it this way.  I can live with it.
Now to get the backing done and on the long arm for simple quilting.  The fabric is so busy that I doubt the quitling will be seen

Tired

Well, seems that un-stitching takes longer than stitching.  LOL  I have not even made it 1/3 of the way through this baby quilt.  I'll work on it while sitting downstairs with DH, and then take a break to come on upstairs.

I would like to quilt this old log cabin, but have no idea what to do with it.  Any suggestions?  I didn't like the way my Baptist Fans templates worked.

Then, I'm working on this kit that didn't have the right fabrics with it.  I tried a print, but it does not work well with the black or the white.  So, that might just have to go in the back.  I like the shape of the round cup.  The square one is just not great.  Might make all round ones, but I need to find the right fabrics and figure out how many are going on this wall hanging.

A friend came by this morning with a van load of fabrics.  Some were really old.  There were some vintage fabrics and lots of double knit.  I helped her sort through and there are some almost done, so I'll put them together for a charity.  I decided to ask Sylvia of  Angel Cover Ministries if they could use the extra fabric, even if it was not cotton.  She said yes, so I need to take that out to her soon.  There is lots of it
I think I'll keep the grandmother's flower garden pieces and see if I can put it together.

I've been working on the school stuff and hope to have it ready to go this week.

Stash Report

I wish I'd been able to quilt more for me.  I did long arm 2 quilts and then another that I need to unstitch, but no real finishes since last Sunday.

Used this Week: 0.54 yards

Used year to Date: 122.20 yards

Added this Week: 0.00 yards

yesterday a bust

Not a good quilting day.  I remember now that my learning curve for the baptist fan boards was high last time I used them.  It's been awhile, so I should have known better.  I was not in the mood to use them.  :(  Guess I need to just have muslin and play to make the process imprint in my brain.
anyway, I had this top that needed quilting
I loaded it and thought it would be just fine with the Baptist fan.  If it was a little off, it was a baby quilt and not be a problem.  Well, it was more than a little off in the dark area. :(  So, after quilting it and never getting the results I wanted, I am ripping the whole thing out.  :(  Not a job I like and Baptist Fan design is a hard one to unstitch.

Quilting for Tammy

Tammy sent me 3 quilts to quilt for her. The first one is long with T-shirts

Some of these shirts had sequins on them.  It was hard to get a photo of this one.

This quilt is the leftovers for the sister of the girl the quilt above was made for.  Fun little quilt and I practiced my swirls on it so it was heavily quilted.

The third quilt is an older quilt that I want to do the baptist fans on.  First I need to practice using my templates for it and then I will work on the older quilt.  I will use the baptist fans on the baby quilt.

Coffee Quilt

Well, I'm not sure this is what it was supposed to be, but with the pieces already cut and what was left....this is it.  I still need 2 of the outside borders to put on -- would have liked the sides on first, but the top and bottom borders were not long enough.
I have a few coffee cups ready to cut out, but I don't want them all the same, so I think I will design some cups like in the center panel.  Then I will need to place them to fuse on.
I think this will be a great addition to my kitchen.

Design Wall Monday

Liz has us being accountable for one UFO a month.  This is my coffee UFO wall hanging.  It is the one without good directions/enough fabric in a kit.  So, I am punting on it.  I don't really know how the coffee cups are supposed to go on the blocks, and I'm not sure I even want the fabrics they picked for the coffee cups.

Small Quilt Group Today

There were 5 of us at small group today.  I had a really good day.  Lana was doing mostly cutting and Judy was piecing her one block wonder quilt that is going to be amazing when she is done.

Ina was working on this wonderfully colored quilt.  It is really pink and lovely fabrics.  She got it all put together today.
This is the BOW with the wonderful setting from the Sampler Society.  I fixed the one corner block and got the outside border on it.  I'm excited to get these other quilts quilted so I can work on this one.

I had this mini twister heart done for a long time and it has been sitting around my room.  I decided to go ahead and make it into a pillow.  Now to ge the pillow form into the pillow casing.

This is another UFO that I had going on.  This panel was leftover from another baby quilt.  I was not sure how I wanted to make this and Judy helped me with deciding how big the pink areas would be.  The piano key border was started with larger white pieces.  The white overwhelmed the piece, so I cut it down and sewed in more of the bright scraps.  I think this is a fun little girl quilt.

Stash Report

I did finish 2 UFOs this week, they were small, but they are finished.  That is a good thing.  I really would like to get more done each week.  With the band program starting up, I'm not sure how that is going to happen.

A completion

This is not one of my UFOs, but DH needed some place to put the remote controls.  So, here it is.  Used a yard of fabric, so that is a good thing.  LOL

Frustration

Have you ever bought a kit and waited to make it?

I wish I would never think that buying a kit is a good idea.  :(

I have a kit that I now know why it is another UFO.  I started it, got some of the pieces cut, and now I am trying to figure out where 2 pieces of fabric are.  AND I don't have a good photo of the finished piece.  I was going to do this one with applique, but I don't see the applique pattern.

So, do I abandon the pattern and make the piece truly my own?  I'm thinking this is a real pain in the you know where.

This is another UFO that is on the list that I gave Liz.  I wanted it to change out pieces in my kitchen.

Does anyone have a photo of the Blank Fabric Coffee Shop?  I think I can add the fabrics I need and all will be well, but I truly need to know what the finished item looks like.

Remind me to NOT buy any more kits and if I do, start them right away.  The shop that I got this from has since gone out of business.  :(

Red & black done

It is done.  I can't say I like it, but it is complete and another UFO finished.  This the Liz UFO #2 on my listing.

I like the back better, and I dn't like the solid backings.  LOL

Glad it is done.  I'm not sure which one of the UFOs I'll tackle, because Liz ended up picking the same number as last time.  Those auto number generators are interesting to say the least.

Progress on BOW

What started out with just the last block being made, is this unique setting coming together.  If you notice the rows on the bottom, you will find the border with only the corners not yet made.  I have the center row sewn together and will work on the other 2 rows tomorrow.  Hope to have this one done this week.

Thistle Bloom

My last BOW from Sampler Society is done.  This is named Thistle Bloom.  Now on to the setting.

Design Wall Monday

It's been a few weeks since I could show you this.
I finally got the center of the mystery sewn together.
Up on my design wall are the 11 blocks from the Sampler Society of blocks with flower names.
I still have one block to make and will probably try the setting suggested, so this is not the way they will look in the final quilt.
Sampler Society blocks on main design wall.
My alternate design curtains still have this block from my bonus hst.  I have 27 blocks made and don't know how large I want to make this one.

Check out the other design walls here.

Glory Boxes made

DD is at band camp.  Just to keep myself busy, I'm sewing.  Yeah!

Apocketfulofmysteries is having an alphabet BOM and we are on "G".  This block is called Glory Boxes.

The colors in this are brown, dark blue, black and dark purple.  Can't really tell that from the photo.  This is the block for Lynne.

My blocks are from my floral scraps with a consistent background and some green in each block.  Judi sent me some fabrics and some were florals, so there are some of hers in here.  Of course, none of these blocks are taking very much of any fabric, so that floral drawer is not going down very quickly at all.  LOL
I like this block.  Might have to think about making a quilt out of this block.

there is a smudge on the same spot of both photos.  Think that maybe my lense is dirty?  LOL

Liz UFO #7 (June)

Remember the 30's bulls-eye blocks I needed to do something with for Liz's challenge?  Not enough to make a full quilt top, so I started adding in other blocks.  OK, I really think I should have added some applique to this, but I did not like it enough to add that amount of time.  I quilted in each section of the bulls-eye circles and then meandered around the rest for an over all design.  To make it more scrappy, I used up the partial bobbins in this one.  I had so many in colors I don't use often that this was a good one to play with them on.  I'm sure this will go to someone that will use it for a small cover up, and it will be loved by someone.  Will see if I like the fraying after I wash it.
As I was looking for red binding, what did I find?  More circles already cut out.  Maybe a pillow or two are in the works for a future date.

It looks like I have the UFO #2 to do this month.  That is a Christmas Alphbet UFO.

I am also working on the red and black table cloth quilt that was our May UFO.  It is quilted and needs binding.

There will be something to report this next Sunday!!!!

Stash Report

Not a good week for finishes.  I have one ready to bind that should be done today.  I have one on the long arm and hope to quilt on it today.  I have numerous started and maybe can get something done this week.

bias edges

I can not say I like bias edges.  I did get this to a size that I can quilt and give to charity.  so, that is where it is going.  I do not like the way it turned out.  The only problem, I started making more pinwheels, so they will go back into a pinwheel ufo and hope I can use them.
I have lots of different sized pinwheels that a bonus from the way I put this one together.

Field trip

We went on a trip to see our property in Blanco.  Fun time out and a great family time.  Kids waded in the water and the adults watched.  LOL
I did sew the center of Ann's mystery today.  Can't show that photo.

Design Wall Monday

My main design wall is still the mystery that I can't show, but there is a change on the secondary temp design wall.  My table cloth is taking a little shape.  LOL
I keep changing my mind on what I'm doing with this, soooo who knows what the plan will turn out to be.

I finished my applique, but the teacher was not there this time and she didn't leave me the next kit, so I don't have more of these to play with right now. The bird needs an eye. I might do a seed bead or might embroider the eye in.  Time will tell.  maybe I'll start outlining the blocks.

Our Red Hat group had a pot luck this last month and this is all of us together.  The pink hat is DD.  :)

Stash report

Not a good week, but a good month.  That is what I'm looking for.  Maybe I can focus and do more in July.

Wow a week without posting

Ever have one of those times when you just can't be motivated to do anything?  I think that was last week for me. DD got off easy from cleaning her room.  I didn't sew, I didn't clean, I was compatose most of the time.  :(
DD had me going to Zumba classes and oh my, that was an interesting time.  I think we will continue, it just takes lots of energy and over an hour of time getting there, doing the class and getting home.  Am I whining, probably, and I need to know it is getting me stronger and I will see results sometime in the future.
I do have a quilt being loaded on the long arm.  I have another headache from the weather changes, but I am trying to work through them.
I still need to find that baby quilt to make and finish some of these projects.  Wish me luck.
