Feels good to quilt

Here is the photo of Ann Smith's mystery with borders. I've got the backing made, so all I need to do now is load it on the long arm.

I finished quilting the QOV -- this makes #64 for me to quilt. I think it turned out OK.

Got DD in bed an she hasn't called me yet, so maybe it will be an OK evening. She is nervous about the first day of 4th grade, but she will do fine.

What I've been doing

This little girl of mine turned 9 today. My oh my, how can that be?

I've been working on her birthday party and then DS decided to have his on the same day, which was OK, but meant 2 different cakes.

We had about 25 folks attend and it was a swimming party, so they had lots of fun. DD prayed all week that it wouldn't rain on her birthday party.

Prayers are answered -- it was raining in the morning, then cleared up around 0900 and the party went from 1000 - 1200. It started to rain about 1215. LOL THANK YOU LORD!!! We stayed after and played in the pool in the rain. No thunder, until about 1300 and then we got out and went home.

Next birthday is in about 2 weeks for DH. I get them all out of the way in short order.
School starts tomorrow, so it will be back to the normal routine.
I've got lots of things I need to figure out what to do with. Next week will be volunteering in school for some of the time, and then we can focus on what I want to do.

Vactioning

Why haven't I been posting? Because I've not been home to post. LOL We have been vacationing. I'm worn out. I'll show you what we've been up to.

Our trip started off at Schlitterbahn, New Braunfels, TX. Thank goodness DS went with us. I don't know that I'd be able to keep up with DD in the water.

Next was a visit to Sea World. DH doesn't ride on the roller coasters, so it was DD and me. DS couldn't go with us because he was working.

The next major event was a trip to Corpus Christi, TX. DS went along and was a life saver during this trip too.

We went to see the USS Lexington
I put them both in the brig when they got out of hand. :) DS having fun around the airplanes. Here we are, don't I look worn out already????

The Texas State Aquarium The kids playing around in a bubble of fish. DD waiting to see the dolphins. DD getting DS to hold a sea urchin. Look at that face. LOL

We took the long trip down to the tip of Texas to South Padre Island, TX to the Schlitterbahn there. That was a LONG day to drive down, play at Schlitterbahn and drive back to the Naval Air Station at Corpus Christi. We were all worn out from that trip.

I tied this fleece throw for DD for her birthday. I did work on yoyos on the trip down and back. Didn't get lots done because I napped.

I've been sewing on the BQ Mystery and Ann's Mystery. I still have 3 - 3" blocks to finish for the BQ Mystery. I am ready to sew the top together on Ann's Mystery. This was 100% from my 5" scrap drawer. I've used most of my nickles up. Yeah! Now to find the borders to finish it off.

Tomorrow I might get DH to go to the River Walk. We've been talking about it all summer.

Friday is a trip to Austin, TX to see if we can find China Town and Barton Springs swimming pool.

Update

Well, this is vacation week, so I'm not around lots. Yesterday was a day at the Schlitterbahn Waterpark. Talk about being tired.

I was at a quilting retreat in Rockport this weekend and had a blast. I'm posting some photos from there. DD sent along Blue River (the hippo) to be with me so I wouldn't be lonely.

We all worked on the kit for the retreat and it was from the Fat Quarter Five Book. Look at all the differences. This is my green monster. LOL I decided to use my own fabrics and make it larger. So, I have double the blocks in this one. It fits the top of my King sized bed.

These two were from the same fabrics, two different patterns from the booklet.

I love this Christmas pattern from the same booklet. Isn't it beautiful?

Some folks finished the quilting and binding on their quilt and started working on the BOM

I was bored with the blocks and had to have a diversion, so I made my 6" Burger Queen blocks.

This is from the same kit as a couple of the ladies did, but a different book. I'm not sure which book it was.

I made Wanda a thread catcher from her leftovers. When Wanda finished her kit, she made this baby quilt of 3-D pinwheels. I think this is going to be a wonderful baby quilt.
