quilting done

I got the tulip quilt quilted. I now need to do a label and binding and it will be done. It was not one of my UFOs, but it was just using scrap fabrics and stash fabrics. Nothing was bought for this project.

I started to put together my list of things to take to first Friday. :)
Here it is -- always more than I'll be able to do, but I'll be sewing all day long. :) Estimate of 11 hours to do them.

1. Tulip quilt -- add the binding by machine <30>
2. Carolina Crossroads -- add the border <1>
3. Wedding Quilt -- add any borders that aren't already added <1>
4. Heart Strings Prayer Squares -- sandwich, add labels and birth (this is another UFO) <30>
5. Make 40 pink and brown 9 patches <2>
6. Make 40 green and purple 9 patches <2>
7. Snowball the 12 horses with scrappy pinks <30>
8. Snowball the 12 horses with scrappy purples <30>
9. Precious Moments baby quilt. Make 30 9-patches to go around the panel using pink and scrappy precious moments fabrics. (this is another UFO) <2>
10 Heart Strings quilt top -- add the outside black 2" border (this is another UFO) <1>

Sunday report

I'm a little late. Didn't get lots of things done this week, and what I did do didn't take away much fabric. LOL Judy reminds us we still have the rest of the year. Thanks for reminding us what needs to be focused on.

Fabric Added This Week -0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 39.68
Fabric Used This Week - 1.37 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 33.75 yards
Fabric Used this Month .1.47 yards
Net year to date: - 6.13 yards added :(

I worked on a purse for a swap and some postcards.

I worked on love blocks and quilts. The quilt was made by others, so, I didn't have any fabric usage to report from it.

I have so many things started, and need to focus and get them completed. I'm working on the tulip quilt's quilting. Hoping to get it done this week.

I sewed today!

It does feel good to do some sewing. I am still worn out, but I finished a purse I was making from scraps. I hope it is OK.
The front. The back. I used 2.5" squares and 6.5" squares for the prairie points.

I had my red hat group on Wed, and this is our group for the month. :) I'm on the back left and my Mom is on the front left. We had fun. Crazy ladies, lots of sisters. The lady, Mary, in the front middle is the Mom of 4 of the ladies -- all the pink hatters and then the red hat lady in the back to her right. What fun.

I also did some embroidery work today. Thank you, Vicki, for helping with the digitizing of things. This is for a Girl Scout quilt for our Service Unit Director. I have twice as many squares still out for signing. They should be signed this weekend and then I'll put it together. It will just be a wall hanging, so it won't be too difficult. I'm not sure how I want to quilt it yet. I don't particularly like quilting signature quilts, but....

I got my postcards made that I've been playing with for a month. Not my best, but I think they will have to do.

You know you are tired

When you almost fall asleep sewing a purse together. LOL
I was working on a purse from scraps. No photo yet and sat in my chair and noticed my head falling to my chest. Hummm, maybe I need to go to bed. So off to bed I went. Didn't get the purse finished, but hope to finish it up tonight.

Hope everyone is having a restful day.

Love quilting

I've been working on love quilt blocks.

Ruth Ann is getting some friendship stars from Flash, some hearts that were in the love quilt bank and a cross from me.

Kim is getting 8 shoo fly blocks from me.

Here is the photo of the love quilt after it has been washed.

I had fun putting together a package.
Before you think why does this lady not quilt? Well, this is what we were up to on Saturday. The special olympics. Wow, these kids did a great job, and we had fun. It was hot and dusty and well worth the effort. That's DD up on Bailey and me by her side. I was so tired that I don't even think I ate last night. LOL

This is her team -- at the beginning of the day. LOL By the end, we were draggin.

So, my update for the week is poor, but here it is anyway. Judy reminds us we still have the year.,
Fabric Added This Week -0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 39.68
Fabric Used This Week - 0 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 32.38 yards
Fabric Used this Month .53yards
Net year to date: - 7.3 yards added :(
I have quilted some today, so next week will have some fabric used. LOL I also have 2 UFOs that if I get them done this week, will make another dent in the stash. I need to use 8 yards to be on the right side of the table. LOL
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

labels

I made 2 labels, have sewed on already.

I've not been able to do much of anything, so this is nice to accomplish something.

I hate being ill.

Sunday, April 13, 2008

Well, as Judy reminds us, it is 8.5 months to go in the year. I've not done as well as I wanted, but I'm still trying.

Fabric Added This Week -34 yards

Fabric Added Year to Date - 39.68

Fabric Used This Week - .53 yards

Fabric Used Year to Date - 32.38 yards

Fabric Used this Month .53yards

Net year to date: - 7.3 yards added :(

Well, a birthday will really hurt the stash busting. LOL I didn't spend anything that I didn't have gift money for, but I did add in some stash. All that I added, except for a few fqs actually has a specific use. I even got some gifts, so that will be going out of my stash as the events come up.

I did a little sewing at the beginning of the week. I made the heart swap blocks and I made the 2 birthday blocks for another swap I'm in. So, not much was done, but.....I did finish the binding on a love quilt. I am printing out the label as I type, so next week will be a little more of a finish.
Today was income tax day. We wait because we seem to always have to pay. :(

Shop Hop Day 2

I'm worn out. I didn't even take things out to play. I was so tired. Here we are at the end.

Here is the haul from the 4 of us.

I bought fabric, but it was all from gifts. So, I am still legal on no buy.

I also got some horse things for DD.

Here are the shop hop quilts.

Here is my haul.

What's a shop hop

One of the comments was asking what a shop hop is. Here is Texas, the Bluebonnet shop hop had 12 stores on it. They each gave you a FQ, a piece of the shop hop quilt pattern, stamped your passport (a piece of paper) and a chance to enter into a drawing for prizes. Then, you have to visit the 12 stores, I take photos of how they interpreted the shop hop pattern, and of course buy things. I bought more this year because it was from my birthday money. The timing was perfect.
For me, it is a chance to get away with quilting buddies and roam around to shops I wouldn't go to. Someof the shops are 80 miles away. The whole experience was fun.

Shop Hop -- best birthday in a long time

Wanda pointing at the skull on top of the water fountain -- their theme was pirates.

Well, I went on the shop hop and look what I got! I had fun. I did something I almost never do -- buy kits. The items on the left are the free fqs and the instructions for the shop hop quilt.

The next column is the book that I got with the $20 coupon I got for buying things at the Quilt Haus. (Kim, I got your black and white jelly roll. I think it is the same as what I gave you for Christmas - not pictured here). There were some free patterns and some charm packets. At the top of that column is a pincushion and some brushes. Also are some needles and a long handles tweezers. The third column is the pink and green kit that I will be making for a gift. Then below that is the pink and browns that I'll use in DD's horse quilt. The 4th column is the shop hop quilt packet that was the fish, and some note cards.

These are the shop hop quilts. How different can they be????

At the end of the day, we had a little fender bender while backing out of a parking space. No one was hurt.
Picked up an Ashton cigar for DH and came home to a DD sleeping in our bed. Hummm.....
Oh, I finished sewing on the binding on the love quilt. Wish I had the label done to be completely done. Next week.

Birthday stuff

I've had a wonderful birthday and it isn't even here yet. LOL
DH had a dozen orange roses and a card with $200 in it for the shop hop starting tomorrow.

I joined a fq swap and look at the coral fabrics I got from the two groups. Aren't they yummy?

My hoop it all came, but I've not had time to play. Probably won't until next week.

I get to go on a shop hop. DH can't pick DD up, so my parents are going to help me out and come over. DS is ill, so he can't help.

Birthday Gifts

Miss Kim sent these to me. THANK YOU! She told me to open them when I got them (now, she will deny that, but don't listen to her. LOL) because I wasn't going to be home on Thursday. So, they are there and happily sitting on my shelf. Aren't they cute? She also sent this cute cupcake pincushion, EQ 6 simplified and a pattern for the numerous baby quilts I seem to be making. Isn't the red fabric so pretty????
THANK YOU!!! You're the best!!

Status status

Well, as Judy reminds us, it is 8.5 months to go in the year. I've not done as well as I wanted, but I'm still trying.

Fabric Added This Week -0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 5.68
Fabric Used This Week - 0 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 31.85 yards
Fabric Used this Month 0 yards
Net year to date: - 26.17 yards used

Nothing went out, nothing came in. LOL Now, the problem is going to be this coming week. I have birthday money coming in, and the shop hop starts ON my birthday, so....who knows what will happen. I am going with 4 friends to the shop hop and hope to find something spectacular -- maybe it will just be tools and gadgets, thread???

Something to think about: SAFETY. For one of the few times I am in my sewing area with sandals on, yesterday I was winding a bobbin for the long arm and dropped pointed scissors on my left big toe. Of course, the pointy side into the toe. Ouch!!! It started to bleed and the sandal kept the blood off my off-white carpet. But, you might want to remember to be careful in the sewing area without closed toed shoes on.

I am still working on the swap blocks. Hoping to finish one set tonight. If I don't get the others done first thing in the morning, the one set will be mailed to get to the hostess quickly. The way life has been this year, not sure if I'd get to them if they are not done first thing.

Oh, I did find the perfect backing fabric in my stash for the tulip quilt. So, I'll be working on getting the backing made and the quilt loaded and quilted. I think it is going to be quilted with lots of background quilting and leave most of the tulip unquilted -- I think it will make the flowers pop.

Strange week

This week was preparing to go camping with DD's Brownie troop. I was in charge of too many things. I didn't even get to turn on the sewing machine until today.

DD was also home running a fever Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. So, on Thursday evening we find out that she had strep. Got medications in her on Friday, but it didn't kick in until late today. Sooooo, no camping. I have to admit that DD was not as upset today as I thought she would be. Of course, coughing enough to throw up might have had something to do with it.

So, today I working on a love quilt. I got it quilted. I have the binding ready to sew on. I'll post another photo when it is finished.

I've been working on these swap blocks, I have 2 done and need a total of 10. I MUST get these done this weekend.

Remember the tulip quilt? I didn't know who it would end up going to. I received a call from very dear friends. They told me that Betty is going through some uterine wall cancer treatment. So, I think this is the quilt to go to her. My plan is to work on the backing and get it quilted.

It feels good to be quilting and I hope my DD gets to feeling Lots better tomorrow.

Update from quilting day

This is Glenda's finished project. You saw it earlier in the month being laid out. How very pretty. At least someone is quilting.
